This is a different sort of move because I will not be getting my household goods at the other end until I figure out where I'm going to live - it's all going into storage. So I've had to figure what I need to live off of for at least six months or so. I will not have enough clothes, but man, clothes are heavy! I've already shipped two boxes of stuff to my Mom's house, in addition to a bike. I have two more boxes to ship. Then I'll have my suitcase, a backpack, a purse, and two cats in cat carriers. It'll be entertaining. Not.
Movers here tomorrow and Tuesday, a different set on Wednesday for a small shipment going to Mom's, car gets turned in for cleaning on Thursday and I have to find a ride to my house to clean the house. Friday the car goes on the truck (takes two months to get to the west coast of the US after that). Saturday is my one free day, then I leave well before the crack of dawn next Sunday for a 12 hours-in-the-air flight to Los Angeles. Add in ground time, and the drive from LA to Santa Barbara, and it's about a 24 hour day.
No naps today - been running like a chicken with its head cut off! Back is killing me! I boxed up most of the electronics. Computer is next. Darn near forgot got get the laptop up to the "do not pack" room. That would be very not good... |
ohhh! I'm so glad not to be moving!! I do not envy you in the slightest! Good luck with everything. So do the cats have to stay in quarantine for awhile? How soon do they get released? And more importantly, did you get your entries for the next 10 challenges in first? :P
two months?! Didn't the mayflower make it in less time? |

Personally, I think that's such a garish display of unsuckworthiness that Fearless Leader should come up with some kind of dastardly punishment.

LOL! Max, you're so sweet! I'll try not to get myself boxed up. And no, Wendy, I don't have any challenge entries at all at the moment. Have not been able to get out and shoot at all. Hoping I put a camera in the do not pack room.... :-)
Alan, I'll have to look up Hurricane - I will probably be making a trip to SLC at some point, and maybe one to Vegas, so I can foresee a couple of possible GTGs.
OK, gotta go get dressed and round up cats... they have to share the small do not pack room and they don't always play nicely together so this should be interesting. Then let's hope the internet works in the hotel, shall we? |

Keeping your fingers crossed for you Deb that all goes well. Hey make sure you settle somewhere in Upper New York so you're not too far away!
Well, thrilled that my Diamonds did well, cause my poor little entry for Broken is skidding towards Brown ribbon territory. *sigh* 3.9259 |

Is this shot too dark on your monitors ?
I do use a "huey" on my monitor, but I didn't take into account that not everybody does.
It is fairly dark on mine, but not dark enough to be lacking much detail.
Or maybe I'm just imagining in more light than is truly there, that's always a possibility too !!

It is a little dark, but I can still see perfectly fine what needs to be seen. I thought it was beautifully done (and loved the lighting) and gave you an 8 in voting. |

Hey guys. Made it to the hotel where there is indeed internet, albeit a bit on the sluggish side at times. Cats are exploring. Well, Thomas is exploring, Emma is hanging out under the bed but she'll come out when she's hungry. Meanwhile Thomas has been hogging the food. He's delighted with that.
The packers got a lot done today - most of it, actually. Tomorrow they'll be back to finish. Then Wednesday there's a small shipment that will go to my Mom's, and I have to clean the bike they'll be picking up. It's a little filthy from the last time I rode it... :-)
Thursday I take the car in for its cleaning then Friday I turn that in for shipping. Then I'm down to me, a suitcase, a backpack, and two cat carriers. My dear neighbors are going to come pick me up at o-dark-thirty on Sunday morning and drive me to Frankfurt for my flight. And with a bit of luck and perhaps bribery, I may have a party at the Los Angeles end pick me up so I don't have to rent a car.
So that's the plan. Stay tuned! The adventure continues!
(Oh, and the packers wanted to make sure I was taking my 220V appliances - I said "Yes, I plan to come back some day!") |

My initial reaction is to say what a beautiful boy he is and what a beautiful effect this 'dutch master darkness' gives. Whether there's any interdependence between those two things I couldn't say.
At first I couldn't see the right eye at all - I've seen it since, or at least the ghost of it and the little highlight. I can see the eye now, but like the contour of the right cheek, I suspect I may be 'seeing' it only because I know it has to be there.
However, to say that it is too dark would be to say that there is a correct amount of darkness to which this does not comply. I certainly wouldn't say that, but there is a) subjectivity in the judgement and b) your choice :) |

Many thanks Sir Bear - THAT I understand.
I guess it would stand to be obvious that *I* don't think it's "too" dark. If I did, I would not have entered it.
*I* love it.

It's a very nice picture. Got a good score from me. Would have scored it even a point higher except, for me, there's something just a tad odd about the line of his back, like he's not all there or something. In other words, *as posed* his right shoulder is pushed forward relative the the left shoulder, and I think if his right shoulder had been bulled *back* so it was visible to the right of his spine, the image might suit me a little better. But this is a nit.

So - more head rotation with less body rotation ?
It's a "nit", but it's a useful one that will only serve me well in the future.

Folks, it is with a heavy heart that I pass along some sad news - Sara's Mum passed away a few days ago. Sara has been overwhelmed with everything that has happened since her Mum's stroke. Sara is a remarkably strong woman (except for the whole flying thing, but that is another story) and she'll be back with us when she can. |
