I'm heading out to Nashville next weekend for PPA's "IMAGING USA" convention and expo.
First one i've ever been to , but was wondering about the expo part...
Companies are going to have boothes set up, and in your experience, have they usually had wares for sale at these things or is it more info? More specifically, I want to pick up a Nikon 28-70 (or 24-70) and Nikon is going to be exhibiting there. What are the odds that I will be able to buy/order directly from them, and if so, do you think it will be solidly discounted? |

I have not been to a trade show for the photography trade, but the similar ones I have attended (An IT expo and a manufacturing expo) have never had product for sale at the show. It has always been meant to show off the products, build interest in the line, and recruit potential dealers/customers.
Added: Oh, yes, another purpose is to collect e-mail addresses so they can spam you forever with their weekly marketing newsletters. I get 6 or more e-mails a day from the various vendors that were at IT Roadmap, even the ones I did not personally give my business card to.

| Yeah, I figured that would be the case, but Im still keeping my fingers crossed. Im sure some of the vendors will have stuff though...like digital backdrop cds and shit like that, but Im sure big ticket items won't be for sale. Oh well. |
