Whether good or bad, don't take scores personally. I tried to vote honestly and look at content, technical merit, and overall appeal.
Thanks to those who gave me a nice score.

Actually, I do take scores personally, usually because I have some sort of personal involvement with the photograph. It's hard not to! And remember that the voters are ALWAYS right. They vote. They're right. There are no trolls (other than Are, of course); just cranky voters.
BUT a 4.xxx score, or a 5.xxx score if you're a normal 6-er, doesn't mean your shot sucks. It may mean that, of course, as we are often blind to our own inadequacies (and I speak from loads of experience) but it may also mean that the voters just don't like it. Or they don't get it. Or it doesn't have any bling or wow or whatever. It could be a perfectly acceptable photograph that just doesn't click (and again, I speak from loads of experience.)
I have a lovely mid-5 score. I'm good at those. :-) |

It is true that we always have a "bond" with the photograph we enter. Otherwise this would mean we don't stand behind our photograph and if you don't stand behind it, there's no use in entering it.
Or it shows someone beloved, or it it something we did for the first time, - we are simply proud.
And we should be proud because for ourselves we have evolved.
But this does not mean that other people see the image the same way. Other people will see the imperfections we did not see.
And for those imperfections, for those less good things we do NOT yet master, voters give lesser scores. Until next time, until a new skill is in developing.

I don't know why so many people are posting lousy scores. I just finished voting, and I think it's a fabulous bunch!

Was briefly over a 5, and then a 3 took me down again. As usual, explanations for the extreme low votes would be nice to get, though I really don't expect them.
