New Year's Eve blue moons are rare, occurring every 19 years. The last time was in 1990; the next one won't come again until 2028. So you may want to get your camera out. It will be a while before then next one.

Every time there's a full moon on New Year's eve, it's a blue moon. |

Correct but a full moon on New Year's eve only happens every 19 years.
Think of your age tonight and think about when you will see the next one.
I'm 44 so the next time I will see a full moon on New Year's I will be 63.
Anyone care to say what age they will be when the next one will be?

Your post reminds me I used your username in the "The Username Challenge II" challenge back in 2007.

61... and since it's low level cloud with white stuff on the ground in these parts, looks like that will be the time to see it :-/

I managed to snap a few shots of it as it came up over the hills here lastnight. It looked gigantic. I wanted to stay up til it made it to the horizion on the other side of the island, Wanted to get it setting over the ocean. But i fell alseep and didnt get up until it was already day light and the moon was long gone.

This one of mine has been selling well on stock sites the last few days :)
Only have to wait until August 2012 for the next one.

You might be joking.
But a blue moon doesn't exist, it never gets blue. That's just a phrase we use to describe a second full moon during the same 30 or 31 day month. Blue moons happen in other months too and this one won't be the last before 2028. Blue moons happen on average every 19 months. Next one is in August of 2012.
