The Grove Park Inn in North Carolina hosts a National Gingerbread House Competition every year. We were up in NC recently on a family trip and got to see some of the amazing Gingerbread creations!

Just a few from my North Carolina Portfolio (total of 24 but there were far more there)

The houses at Grove Park are phenomenal. In a lot of ways, so is Grove Park!

What all did you end up seeing while you were here?

Yes it is - very beautiful Grove Park Inn is amazing. After browsing at all the gingerbread houses we tried to look for a gingerbread man cookie at the gift stores but they were all sold out!

O.P Taylor's Toy Shop in Brevard (cool toy store)

Snow Tubing in Maggie Valley

Unplanned 1 1/2 hour Scenic drive from Maggie Valley to Brevard taking the 276 that became a white knuckle ride when we found ourselves on the icy road leading up into the mountains. Word of advice never decide to take a short cut and listen to the GPS when it has no clue as to weather conditions (chuckle). Least we made it back safe.

Biltmore Village

Biltmore Estate grounds during the day and later the Candlelight Gala at the Biltmore Estate.

Hiking around the hiking trails/grounds of the development at my sister's vacation house in the woods.

Maloprops Book Store and a little exploration of downtown Ashville.

And just playing in the snow which is a big departure from sunny FL:-)

We were going to go see the Elk at Cataloochee Valley but we decided to skip because of the twisty road shown on the map and that the conditions were probably icy...not to mention it I40 was closed at exit 20 due to rock slide.

The I-40 stuff wouldn't have affected going to Cataloochee, but the weather up there would have been nasty. 276 from Waynesville (maggie) to Brevard would have been a stroll in the park compared to it.

Boy was this a shock. On glancing at the tread title I thought it said National Geographic and opened the tread expecting to see all these great nature and travel shots!

But what to my wondering eyes did I see ...
