Took a good exposure to capture the exceptional sculptural detail. |

This is offensive and not related to photography. It should be moved to the Rants forum. |

Under the new announcement, perhaps... but this was created prior to John's reminder.
It's still photography tho.

I think if you take the time to read some of the other threads that are related indirectly to this post you might find Scott's message here to be a form of sarcasm. I don't really think he's offended, nor do I think he really wants the thread moved to the rant forum. Of course I could once again be mistaken...... |

Just trying to keep in the spirit of the new, unposted Nazi forum rules. This is not about photography, but about sculpture. It should be moved. |

There are no 'unposted Nazi forum rules'. Quite frankly, I don't have time for this. I'd like to watch a movie with my husband, who is finally home... if you all don't mind.
Grouchy? Me? You bet!
EDIT: Moved. Happy?
Now, go ahead and make another thread in General Discussion just to make me miss the movie.

Generally? Of course. About this? Not really. I guess my sarcasm was lost somewhere in the ether. It was the hypocricy and the arbitrary implementation of new policy that's bothering me. What would have made me happy would have been for everyone to take a breath, go watch their movies, and come back thinking clearly. |

I'm starting to find the casual use of the (other) N-word to be tiresome and offensive. |

I would agree, how someone on the council tries (in vain) to control the forums is a Nazi is beyond me. I dont get it.
But, its not just here-its thrown around anywhere now. Anytime someone feels the have too much control. Boom...the word flies.
I dont really blame Scott, its just almost a cliche word now.

Hey, the left has found it such a convenient term to use. I just don't normally get to use it myself too often. I must admit, it was fun. I understand why they like to use such a powerfully negative label so frivolously.
:)
Seriously, I apologized elsewhere, so I'll do so here: it was far too strong a term to use in this context. I was simply trying to vent frustration that on a site that has generally been much more open and gradual about "societal" shifts like this seemed to have made a sudden and somewhat authoritarian decree in limiting, to some extent, the discourse of the site.
Still seriously, I find it just as offensive, maybe more so, that it gets used so freely and loosely by the left in describing those on the right in this country. It does severly cheapen the evil that Hitler and the Nazis perpetrated. But that's another rant.... |

I think the current usage of the other n-word got it's start when Rush Limbaugh applied it to feminists. But don't put a guilt trip on Rush. He should be excused because his judgement was impared by all the drugs he was taking, and he apologized for that and went thru rehab, so it's ok now. |

That's the part I was talking about -- I have no objection to the word used in a proper politico-historical context ... but I just didn't think it appropriate here (an opinion). |

No offense General, but I really don't like to see it applied to a group by someone who disagrees with that group's agenda, as rush v feminists. I don't see it as a genuine comparison. It's just a cheap-shot derogatory catch word to my way of thinking. When was it that the feminists were in control and tried to exterminate a race? I musta slept thru that episode. |

Since this is a rant I'm gonna sound off about what get's me hot. I'm sick and tired of people whining about it being cold in the winter time. I love winter, it's a natural thing that happens every year. The cold, clear air is great for photography. Snow is really beautiful. It covers up a lot of the desecration man has done to the earth. If you can't hack it please don't burden these forums with your whimpering. Just move to Hawaii, or Arizona, or some other bland, no seasons place and shut up about it. End of rant. |

You must have misunderstood me ... I don't approve of the use of the word in any of the examples cited here or as used in the threads here. I just said I don't mind it being used un a genuine discussion of history or sociology, as in what type of psychology and media manipulation allows a government to convince its citizens to allow it to kill others unjustly.
I think Mr. Limbaugh is the worst sort of super-hypocritical pseudo-conservative exploiteur who found a profitable schtick and ran with it regardless of the logic or decency -- or rather the lack thereof -- of the views he unabashedly expresses. When I first heard his show I swear I thought it was satire .... |

Do you bother reading posts or is it simply a knee-jerk reaction to what you 'think' has been said? |

While I won't whole-heartedly defend his use of the term, he has repeatedly defined his use of that term as relating to the rabid support of a segment of the feminist movement for abortion. Which certainly is a form of extermination - millions of lives have been taken because of this agenda. So if extermination is the key determinant of whether someone is a Nazi, then Rush's title is much more apropriate for this feminist agenda than it is for Bush.
You musta slept through the 90s. |
