Is there a way in CS4/Bridge to batch convert nef (Nikon raw) to jpeg without opening ACR?

File -> Scripts -> Image Processor

highjack!!! Can I ask a question? On my Nikon D80 is there a way to set my photo numbers to infinity or say 1000 or 10,000? Before it starts all over...I'm having a problem with duplicate photo numbers. Mind you I start all over in 2009, 3 days from now. But I'd like to re-start my numbering on the camera for next year so I don't run into this problem again. footnote, I always clear my memory card that's why it starts back at 0001 over and over again.

I'm sure your menu is same as mine, or very similar. For numbering I use continous numbering so no matter how many times I format memory card, numbering carries on to infinity and beyond!!

Your menu is different, but I would put File No. sequence on??

I just didn't know if that was the right area or not. And I ASSUME that the reset is to reset your number count back to zero at any given point. (for me once a year)

I am in the dark here, check your manual, but if you get a reset everytime you format your memory card, I would guess that a reset now and going to continous would get rid of that problem. Remember, I am a man and we don't read manuals, which is why we f**k up so often:)

Haha! Your personal habits are not my business:))

I think the manual is the best bet. I had hoped both cameras were similar, but there are differences. However, I think you need continous numbering for at least 999 photos before next numbering sequence starts.

Even with the file numbering turned on, all of my Nikons revert to 0000 at each 10,000 interval. Just sayin'.

Kind of a necessity, since there are only four digits available -- my Canon does the same. However, in the serial number field, there are three more digits which show how many times this reset has been performed, and the folder created on the card where the photos go is likewise numbered to show how many times the number has been reset. For example, my current folder is 104, and this EXIF shows the relationship between the current image ID number and serial number:

Note that if the card is used in another camera (like you lend it to someone) and then use it again without reformatting it can reset the image numbering.

this is an ahhhh haaaa thread for me...I always clean my card off when I am done shooting that day...I have one external hard drive that keeps things "virgin", then my C drive (which after the first of the year I am going to try to not use anymore), and my E drive which has a bit of everything on it. I'm going to switch to using the E drive only (except when I travel, then I'll transfer later) but whenever I do the transfers from C to E, my poor PSE8 has trouble "finding my files" so it has to hiccup, burp and hack up a hoogie. Takes sometime...I just trying to not be so dad blamed complicated in my files and storage...
