I'm in! Let me know times and such... the Ford-Edison estates really get festive for the holidays, so this should be a great time. |

Sounds like a good idea. Let's do it.
Does anyone know if they will allow DSLR's and maybe a monopod?

It will be nice to finally meet you, Waddy. I checked the website and it does not mention camera gear. I used my Fuji last visit (quite some time ago) though things have changed since then. I can call them to check. |

Thanks Dave. I have lived around here for most of 60 years, and I was born only about a mile from there, but have never visited the place.

That's good news about the equipment being ok.
I wonder if there are any other DPC'ers in the area. I know of one, but he has not posted anything in 18 months. I think that there is one or more in Naples too, but that does not bring up anyone in the profile search page.

Got the PM's with phone numbers.
The Sanibel Light sounds like a good idea to me. It's not too far from the Edison home at all, and there are a lot of sea birds nearby.

this should be fun...I didn't realize how close you and Dave are to the Edison/Ford home and it sounds like a new visit for us all...I haven't been in years and years....it will be interesting how we shoot the Lighthouse...like I said it's not the most photogenic one I've ever seen...sure wish I knew who else lived in the area
See you guys at 10 am on Dec. 26th... |

Bump... Anyone else in the Ft Myers area interested in this GTG ?
I got this shot of the Sanibel Lighthouse when we were sailing back from a trip to Tortugas. There is a link to the history of the lighthouse with the pic if you like history.

I just had a look at the Ft Myers weather for Saturday. It looks like a pretty good day for temperature, with morning low 64, high 74. The NOAA weather site is showing that it may be a damp or rainy day, so we should be prepared, and maybe have a backup plan for location. My guess is that the rain will be mostly an overcast and light sprinkle, since they are showing it to begin Friday, and end Sunday. Does anyone have a suggestion for an indoor alternative where we could have a good time shooting if the rain is too heavy? I will ask my nephew Doug. He works in that area, and is very familiar with all the places around town.
It would be good if we could get at least one or two more DPC'ers in on this little adventure.

As I do not know much about the area (living in Orlando) it would probably be a good idea to have a back-up plan for indoors somewhere...Thanks for talking to your nephew Waddy. |

Good news! The weather people say that Saturday will be a no rain day until around sunset.
I may have a couple of tag-along shooters. My grand niece, who is learning how to use her DSLR, and one of her friends who is a photographer are thinking about doing the GTG with us. We may recruit some new DPC'ers.
And, Merry Christmas!

What a great time...and on the way home Rick and I stopped at Bok Towers, I haven't been there in years! Boy is it beautiful...would make another good GTG for the future...had a really good little cafe' to eat at there... |
