Take a macro photo of something, and try to stump the .. [more] viewer as to what it actually is. Your title should NOT identify or even hint at what the object is, but you should include a description of your object in the photographer details field.

I love this idea!!! I might not be able to get an entry that anybody likes but I am CERTAIN I can stump the viewers because half the time I do anyway!!!
I haven't looked at the old challenge entries yet but I'm excited.

I need to try to top my previous scores. It does seem that I like the color blue though so I'll stick to that.

Puzzle I - - 5.7713
Puzzle II - - 5.2134

I was checking the two previous challenges, and great stuff in there. In fact, I became interested in that ferrofluid thing, and it's amazing!

Anyway, good chance to get the imagination of people going :)

The nice things about the Puzzle Macro challenges is you get an unusually high number of comments. Granted they are all just guesses but still...

Sooo.... I'm a bit unclear on the exact rules here as per cropping..

Can I still (like usual) crop as I see fit and take advantage of the ridiculous MP's I have, or (it seems somewhat logical) should we submit the entire photo as it was out of camera?

Since I do not have even a decent macro lens, I'm thinking of shooting this challenge using my 28-135, but that would necessitate cropping to make it even somewhat mysterious...

Puzzle Macro I = 298 submissions

Puzzle Macro II = 260 submissions

Puzzle Macro III = 98 so far. I don't think it'll reach 200 this time.

What's going on with DPC? Is it dying? (Dieing?) <--- which one is right?

This is not a difficult challenge to shoot and that's what's got me worried about DPC. I understand challenges that involve people are sometimes difficult to shoot but a macro?

Thought?

I haven't check the stats about the number of entries per challenge during this time of the year . Because it could just be easily that many members were on vacation for the holiday season and don't have time to post or enter challenges.

On the personal thought, I didn't enter this challenge because I don't have the tools for macro shots anymore like when I used to.

Both previous challenges were open challenges, this is a members only challenge. It's close to Christmas, people are busy. Normally I would have entered this challenge because macros are my favourite things to shoot and I did pretty good in the last 2 puzzle macro challenges. But I've been very busy this week getting ready for Christmas and didn't have the time.

Good points. It should have been an open challenge again imo. These are my favourite ones to vote and comment on. :)

The only reason I entered was so that I could hit 100 challenges this year. Otherwise, I just didn't have the time. (unfortunately, it's not as good as I could have done, just too close to Christmas to really play and explore

I think the fact that it's 5 days till Christmas. Had I not had one of those "holy crap" moments at 2 in the morning I would not have made time for this one either.

The future continuous tense of the irregular verb to die is dying
However I agree with others that the proximity to christmas is probably having an impact on the number of entries.
