Quick question - I currently have an image file open in Photoshop CS4 - Where can I see the full path to wherever I opened it from?
I'm opening it from the 'recent files' menu, but I need to know where it's saved on the HD - And spotlight or finder won't help (OSX)

Bridge will tell you where the file is located.

What I did was, I was editing a file in LR - I clicked 'Edit in Photoshop' I finished the editing in PS, and clicked 'Close' and 'Save'
Now I can't find where the resulting TIF has ended up being saved! (Even though I can open it from the recent files list in PS)
Edit: Browse in bridge just shows me my Home folder

You could do the same again /with a different image/ and this time stop and look where it's going to save for you.

| Open it from the Recent Files list, then select File>Save as. When the Save As dialog comes up, the folder you are in should be the one it was opened from. |

Okay, this is my workflow;
1) Open DSC_2540.NEF raw file in LR
2) Click 'Edit in Photoshop'
3) Apply filter effect in PS
4) At this point, if I click 'Save As' in PS it attempts to save it as DSC_2540.TIF in the folder the NEF came from, which is fine.
However, if I click 'Save' on it's own, it renames the file to 'DSC_2540-Edit.tif' and appears to save it somewhere. But spotlight or finder or bridge just can't find that file anywhere. The only way I can open it again is from the 'recent files' list.
I've tried searching for 'DSC_2540' in spotlight, and no joy. It only finds the NEF file. |

Ah, not to worry - I think I know what's going on.
All my photos are stored in the iPhoto library. I don't think that plays well with Bridge. |

| I don't know if you do this or not (or even want to) but when you go to edit in PS from LR you can indicate that you want the resulting image to be imported into the LR catalogue either in the same place as the original or in a different folder. If you indicate yes then when you return to LR from PS it appears in the catalogue automatically. |

Yes! That's the way I had it working before.
However, PS doesn't seem to like saving images directly into the iPhoto catalogue. I tried saving directly, it asks to 'overwrite' the previous version, even though it doesn't actually exist, and then when it saves it, the file doesn't actually appear in there.
Right now, I'm thinking of moving all my photos out of that iPhoto library and into a normal folder structure. I've never quite trusted it. Plus, having the photos in a normal folder structure gives me more flexibility to use LR or PS or Bridge or Picasa without worrying. |

CS4 on OS X won't let me do that. I go into 'file info' and it appears blank.
Clicking on the title bar gives me a path, but when I go to that path, the file isn't actually there.
Either it's hidden, or there's some other weirdness going on.
I'm going to move my photos out of iPhoto anyway, into normal folders. Where I have some control over what's happening. |

What I normally do is click save as, it opens the folder where the original was pulled into Lightroom from, as long as you didn't move the original upon import to LR.
