Sounds to me like you're having a profitable and introspective week, Deb.

Results aren't everything. As often as not they come in the form of choices that are, in fact, no more than the elimination of a lot of other choices.

Thoughts and ideas, on the other hand, can only come on top of thoughts and ideas you've already had. Riding on the shoulders of giants, as it were. So thoughts and ideas that don't get results are still good because you've had them and they have played their part in establishing a base for the next ones.

Then again, I prefer melancholy to fun. Go figure.

Get external drives. Back up your stuff. It all adds to the process of thinking about it.

Actually you're sounding quite depressed. Are you OK? If you need to talk, pm me or im me or something. Or talk to anyone. Sometimes retirement can bring on depression, the whole changing the way your life works thing.

I'm not depressed - but I am oddly sad a lot of the time. Damn near everything makes me cry. Weird. I think it's the whole retirement/lack of general worth to society/why the f*** did I quit smoking/just turned 50 sort of thing. I'll survive. :-)

Peter's use of "melancholy" kind of sums it up nicely.

Well, sounds like you've definitely hit a few life milestones head-on, Deb. Turning 50 is a biggie, and having just retired too...anything in the offing in terms of job leads?

((HUGS)) from me, Druli and Lily.

Deb, you are an inspiration and a guiding light to more people around here than you can possibly imagine.

You ran all those threads centered around the "I really love my shot.", you've been instrumental in helping a lot of people understand that it's not about the scores, or the sales, but it's about how you express yourself, and convey your message as it relates to your intention.

I know that you have always been both a comfort & inspiration to me in that vein, and I really have to say that you are the one person who has most helped me become comfortable with my photography because I'm, finally shooting what I want, the way I want, and actually giving myself a break when I don't quite achieve what I went after.

I'm not even sure you know that, 'cause I've never come right out and said it, but thank you, from the bottom of my strange little heart for just being......you.

I also had trouble with the 50 thing......only because it's hard to imagine that I'm a half-century old, especially when I'm still getting used to the idea that *theoretically* I'm an adult......and the jury's still out on that one.

My best thought on that is grow old, not up.....so far, so good for me! LOL!!!

Sounds kind of like me. I'm often sad, and cry all the time at everything. I had a complete blubbering meltdown hanging my grandmother's antique glass bell ornaments on my tree this year. I cry over those animal abuse commercials on tv. I cry at odd songs on the radio. And I'm bored all the time. So, I do understand exactly what you mean. Hopefully things will turn around for you soon!

Make more photography books.

Devote your life to making beautiful things.

Welcome to being female! I'm actually looking forward to menopause (well, maybe to after menopause). I would love the mood swings to settle down. I feel stupid crying all the time. There's got to be a better way.

And Deb, you just need to get that motorhome, take a year off and come and visit us all! We'll convince you how full of worth you are! Or, we'd just take lots oc pictures :D

Suppose a young man with little photography experience was interested in joining Team Suck, what might he have to do?
If you don't think I'm qualified let me just tell you that I'm averaging a 4.25 in the current Bored challenge.

What can I say, suck happens!

I'm glad I don't have any other pictures in my portfolio haha. I'm the guy on the right, which hat should be cloned, dog or human hat?

How's this, cheesy enough?

Be careful what you wish for.... I'm pretty sure no one has died from hot flashes directly, but indirectly??? I'm betting there are a few. I've had hot flashes anywhere from 5 to 60+ times a day (and night) for the past 6 years. In some women, they never go away. I'm lucky enough to be one of 'em! Woo hoo!!

I'd love to do the motorhome thing, but I'm thinking that's a pipe dream at best. Gotta get a job like a good person...

Fantastic! That oughta do it, but it's up to Posthumous in the end.

We have them surrounded

Have we ever had TS bookends? That would be kinda cool. I recall having three TS'ers in the top ten in the same challenge, but not sure about 1st and last.
