It would be nice if this site would tabulate our stats for us. I like stats but the top ten ones on this site seem to accommodate approximately 15 members or so on this site. The ones listed are so far away from us mortals that we would have to stay here for a couple decades to place in one of them, maybe. ;\

Langdon, I'm sure it isn't that difficult for you or your webmaster buddies to do this for members only. :)

Well my quietest year yet with only 5 entries.

I certainly didn't plan it that way, but hey . .

That said I had a great time in a number of side challenges that ranged from the sublime to the frankly ridiculous (Yep - the Godzilla s/c). These were all tremendous fun and a great way to keep challenged, as well as pushing those pp skills - so it's all good.

I've often thought I should have quit a couple of years ago, and oddly, the stats bear that out!

2005:
7 challenges
Average: 4.9373
High: 5.3652
Low: 4.3200
Sub-5 scores: 3; 42% of total
Ribbons, top tens: 0

2006:
91 challenges
Average: 5.6823
High: 6.7163
Low: 4.4464
Sub-5 scores: 7; 8% of total
Ribbons, top tens: 0 (Highest finish - 11th)

2007:
89 challenges
Average: 5.8433
High: 7.0533
Low: 4.7532
Sub-5 scores: 2; 2% of total
Ribbons, top tens: 3rd twice; 9th, 10th

2008:
75 challenges
Average: 5.8346
High: 7.3611
Low: 3.8807
Sub-5 scores: 2; 3% of total
Ribbons, top tens: 1st, 3rd, 6th, 8th

2009:
49 challenges
Average: 5.8140
High: 6.9405
Low: 4.6531
Sub-5 scores: 6; 12% of total
Ribbons, top tens: 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th

I apparently peaked in 2007 and have not learned anything since, although I have more at either end this year than the previous years. My best lifetime finishing position is 13th - I've got 7 of those.

Given the trends, though, I should probably retire before the decline gets steeper...

What stats are you looking at to make that assesment Deb... the Average? Three types of lie in this world... lies, damn lies, and statistics... and average is the mother of all statistics. I'd be looking at the fact that you manages more ribbons and top ten finishes with few entries in 2009 when compared to the other years. You're still on the upward trend... as Yazz once said, "The only way is up".

I've also had a nice growing trend with my sub-5 scores. I kinda think that's an odd sign of improvement as well. :-)

Still think it may be time to retire. I can only do so much with pigeons, you know...

But yeah, you make a good point - the "average" is not the only stat to look at.

2009:

97 Challenges (+4 yet to conclude)

Average: 5.7022
High: 7.2847
Low: 4.4364

Looks like a modest improvement - but I'd say that (subjectively) my work has got a lot better than the difference in those stats sets suggests. This might suggest that the standard of work has got better / marks given gone lower???

Does anybody know how the average mark given has drifted over the years (if at all)?

Let's just assume that's true. By the way, I would have thought your average was much higher based on what I remember of your entries in general.
