I would pick songs from the era the photos represent (if you can find them) and maybe include some of their favourites. |

so far i've picked, before dawn- isacc sheapard ( thanks for recomending I love it!)
somewhere over the rainbow - irael kamakawiwo'ole
those two blend well in my opinion.. i thin it's a good generation to generation change for the pics.. mayeb i'm wrong but oh well thats my opinion..
I really like guardian angel - the judds but it doesn't go with anything else.. I just like the meaning in it and would fit well when i got to my uncle who dies in a car carsh when i was 2..

I thought I was the only one this insane this season. :) I've scanned close to 1000 of my mom's pictures -- not as many generations as yours, though, and we're doing a slide show for my mom and siblings.
For music, I did a search to see what the top songs were the time period of the pictures. For example, my brother was born on December 29, 1962 so I found the top song that week for part of it. My sister, November 12, 65, etc. |

Photomom,
Did exactly the same thing you are doing. Not sure of the mood you want, so I'll just suggest you check out these songs and artists:
Anything from the Movie Miss Potter by Nigel West.
Katie Melua, When you taught me how to dance
My most favorite; Sarah McLachlan's, Your Love is Better than Ice cream. I used this one twice with scenes of the grandkids actually eating ice cream and popicles.
Randy Travis's, Ants on a Log. My daughter tells me the grandkids will actually pull out that CD and listen to it on their own.
Rick Nelson's, Went to a Garden Party
Nashville Bluegrass's, Diamonds and Pearls. Used this with scenes of only the girls in the whole family including aunts and cousins.
Nashvile Bluegrass's, Boys are back in Town (Name of album)
Leon Redbone has any number of songs that are appropriate: Dancin on Daddy's Shoes, All I do is Dream of You, Dimanonds Don't Mean a Thing, Thinking of You Thinking of Me, Bittersweet Waltz. One the the kids love, Your feets too big.
I don't look so much for current songs but rather something that sets a theme or time. Used Rick nelson' s Garden Party for an actual garden party. Polkas are always a neat trick also try top focus on ethnicity.
Lean on Me, Michael Bolton
To Love Somebody, Michel Bolton
Fiishin' for Chickens, Ford & Ragmuffins
Music in My Mother's House, Ford& Ragmuffins
One of my favorite sources is Chip Davis (Manheim Steamroller): Seventh Sunday, Alchemy Cakra 2 throu 7
A fantastic ending:
Atkins and Knopfler, Next Time I'm in Town. And just for easy listening, Tahitian Skys
Straigth No Chaser's, Auld Lang Syne
Taco's, Puttin on the Ritz (for picture with my grand daughter dressing up in grandma's jewels.)
Classical:
Mozart, Rondo
Schuman, Happy Farmer (Don't laugh. Check it tout!)
Schubert's, Cradle Song
Brahm's, Lullabye
Vavaldi, Four Seasons
Braham's Hungarian Dance #5
Springsteen's, Frog went a courting.
Toni Braxton, Breath again
And let's not forget Dr. Szhivago
La vie en Rose
There is a group called Ritma y Sabo. There "Volere" (from the movie, is hauntingly beautiful.)
Not sure of this is what you are looking for. . . but thought I'd trow it out there for your perusal.
Sorry! I just keep on remembering more. Crazy Love, Ray Charles and VanMorrison Went to a wedding where this song was actually the theme of the event. Totally blew me away.

sarah mclachlan - ordinary miracle, and Dean martin - memories are made of this
It's comming along well though.. after going through over 2000 photos, and scanning in so far 150 so far.. I'm actually proud that I'm this far along.. lol nothing like waiting till last min..
I did opt out the crash of my uncle and the fire station getting dedicated to him, I thought.. well its probably something I don't need to include in the slide show.

Guys... I am FAR from trying to defend the record companies - that is indefensible and would love to see them wiped out of the music sales & distribution model... but ripping off stuff from one set of artists (musicians) does not really help the other set (photographers) in the long term..... Just say'n....
This recent article might have some relevance. Alternatively, you can grab any recent thread about a web-site using someones image to see the general feeling around here on what is an identical scenario.
There are lots of CC/RF licensed stuff out there as well as some sites that will get you something more custom for some more $. |

i'm not selling the slide show, for starters, and I will have credits t the artist in the end of the slid show. I agree with you if I was selling it to someone then yes it's wrong. |
