While exploring Google's online digitized copies of Life Magazine I discovered this.
Thought some might want to explore Life's take on photography 43 years later. Some of the camera ads look surprisingly familiar, especially after seeing the pen line of cameras re-introduced recently. You can magnify the issue with the magnifying glass at the top left big enough to read easily on most screens. WARNING: Do not get started with this unless you have plenty of time. The entire collection of Time is available here too. Plus more. I guess this could be called a "Time" waster. :)

Wow, some of the ads... and to think I'm old enough to remember that issue :-P
Well, just barely old enough to read it, LOL. |

I remember the image on the front of that magazine. At the time I had a chunky Kodak 120 camera and access to my Uncles Petri viewfinder 35mm camera with wide angle and tele adapter lenses. I stumbled across this issue searching for the November 1963 issue. Another good one to look thru and get a sense of the current affairs. I never realized that Oswald had a beef with Governor Conley until I read that issue. |

The article by Carl Mydans which begins on page 64 is one of the most thought out articles I have read on photography. I think everyone who takes photography seriously should take some time and read it. Thanks for the post.

Those ads are great: Record clubs... Sean Connery selling Jim Beam... Angela Lansbury selling Heublein cocktails.
