Terry, thanks for your reply, but I'm still not seeing it - am I just totally missing it right under my eyes?
I have done a forced refresh, too.... no good.

is the option to add links normal? or just because of the plugin?

It looks like you are using the DPC Quicklinks Greasemonkey script. That script is the problem; disable it and you should be fine.

In the "Sentbox" folder, where it say I have sent to 1 User under each sent message. If I click on that it says I sent it to myself and links me to my profile; not the person I sent the mail to. This happens in reply and composed mail mode ONLY.

I also receive an alert from DPC saying: SDW has sent you and 1 other person a private message! when replying to a PM.

Yep. Same here. I'd prefer not to get copies of what I sent to someone else automatically showing up in my email account. We had the option before to receive a copy that I usually left unchecked. Can this be modified somehow please?

Something still doesn't feel quite right with the new PM system.

I have my preferences set to: "E-mail me when I receive a private message on DPChallenge."

I've rec'd two current PM's since the new system has been put in place. I did NOT receive any email telling me I had a new PM. Yet, when I send a PM out using the new system I AM getting an email saying that "glad2badad sent you a Private Message on DPChallenge".

As far as I can tell, when you're on DPC the new PM system works fine. It's just the email notification part that seems broken.

It would be nice if there was something more substantial to let you know a new PM is in your inbox. I had a new PM and didn't realize it because the subject title is displayed regardless of how many PM's are generated in that PM thread and the blue text looked like a normal 'link'.

One last thing; why do we have a link to 'Reply in Private'? My apologies if that's been explained in this thread already (I looked and didn't see an answer).

G2B, I am getting the e-mail still, but it has started going to my junk folder - have you checked yours?

Thanks Sara. I just checked my Spam folder and I did have 3 PM notifications from people here at DPC. What's strange is why would some go to Spam and some come to my Inbox? The PM notifications that went thru to my Inbox just fine were PM's that I had sent to other people at DPC. The PM notifications that went to my Spam folder were PM's sent to me from other people at DPC (thru the new PM system).

I looked at the incoming part of the emails and some numbers match. I'm assuming that they have something to do with the actual message thread.

Here's the details:

When I send a PM it comes from (and goes to my email Inbox):

When I receive a PM it comes from (and goes to my email Spam folder):

I have DPchallenge.com in my contacts list and previously all DPC items made it to my Inbox without a problem. Is it possible that the dynamic string in the from line is screwing things up? Of course, that theory may not hold up because I have two in my Inbox that share the same from string as those in my Spam folder. ???

If you have multiple people involved in a message, I believe this is so you can reply to the individual without it going to all involved.

Thanks. That makes sense.

Why would you need this? How often are you going to send yourself a PM?

every time that I respond to a PM I get a notice that I sent out an e-mail/response...it's annoying...

I'll echo that.....I just spent a bunch of time searching for some way to turn that off.

My interest in using the system is greatly lessened by it dumping useless e-mails into my inbox.

We had the option to decline that feature before the PM system was "Fixed".

The third bullet on the first post described a new preference that allows you to turn off email notifications. It can be found on your preferences page.

That said, I've fixed the bug that was emailing you your own replies.

while i can see the need for a preference setting for receiving copies on one's own replies, i actually prefer it; it gives me my own permanent copy of my side of a conversation ;-)

Aw cr@p, I meant to reply to this and forgot.

I believe Yahoo has an adaptive spam filter. Marking these messages "not spam" may help. It may be recognizing the ones from you as good because the presence of your username (a word it typically would only see in non-spam messages) are helping it to recognize them as good.

Alternately, try adding dpchallenge.com to your safe senders.

The long, cryptic email addresses are used to enable the reply-by-email feature that is now supported in PMs. We use this rather than the sender's email address, since sending addresses can easily be spoofed, and to allow for users with aliased or redirected email boxes to make use of the reply feature. Don't share these addresses, since email sent to that address will appear to thread participants as a PM from you.

At the risk of being redundant, I'd like to say I really like this new messaging system.

It looks like it will be as much fun as the time I built my first set of string and tin can walkie talkies about 50 years ago. : ) Thanks Langdon!

I was also just whacked by a button on a string.
