Anybody have one of these? They look pretty cool, but I'm wondering about the price differences between models. Also, there are off brand versions too, and wondering if they compete?

I have a Mino Flip HD, Not as nice as some of the models currently available in the states but over all not bad either.
Pro's: Video Quality is great for a camera of this size, especially outside in daylight, It fits in Pocket, Starts up Fast, Easy to use, Easy to transfer to computer.
Cons: No image stabilization, alot of digital noise in very low light conditions, battery life is not outstanding.

I am getting the Kodak Zi8. Just looking for the best price.
Full HD 1080p
720p at 60 frames per second
External Memory support up to 32 gigs
Big LCD screen
Hdmi Output to your HD tv.
Built in image stabilizer.
Support for an external mic.
Rechargeable battery- can purchase extras.
Ive been interested in these "Flip" video recorders for awhile and for under 200 bucks, I think this is the best one out there.
Edit to add this REVIEW but just google it, there a ton more online.

I just recently bought a Flip UltraHD on sale for $159. Regular price was $199. I had a chance to use it this week while on vacation and it does a pretty good job. It is light and simple to use. Have to charge the batteries often, probably due to cold weather. What's really neat is to mount it to your car's dashboard and record while driving. Also, since it doesn't have any image stabilization, I used a monopod to keep it stabile while recording. |

Yeah, lots of options, and it seems like mostly positive reviews and all of them are relatively cheap. I'm looking to get one to use with my students. Thanks for the replies. |

I hope this thread isn't old enough for this to be considered necro-thread-mancy...
Just got a Kodak Zi8 and, of course, immediately modded it for the 37mm lens add-ons (0.5x wide angle and 2x tele). Got the Zi8 at WorstBuy on sale for $130 (actually a pretty good buy), and picked up the 0.5 and step-up rings there. Ordered the 2x from amazon.
Took some videos of the fireworks tonight; probably a pretty horrible example of what it can do (low-light), but it was fun to play with. Hoping to record some useful videos in-studio with it later this week. The Zi8 also doubles as a 5.3MP camera. Assuming SC honors my (just submitted) request to add it as a camera here, perhaps buzzrock and I can dominate the Zi8's photo page for a while. :P
Anyone else playing with these? |
