I've been really pleased people have been confusing my topazed images as non-topazed ones and vice versa.. I'v been trying to use topaz as an enhancement rather than an effect so that's a pat on the back..
is my favourite because I think I'm not being obviously topaz-y.. at least I think so.. and I know topaz was a major tool use here..

Don't get me wrong, I do use it, but usually I use it as an additional layer, with the opacity turned down relatively low. If you go to my flickr page, there are definitely some on there. |

Right on! So, you'll be giving back that ribbon, I presume? |
I didn't use Topaz on that image. Actually at the time I didn't even know anything about Topaz. That image was all dodge and burn. |

it takes awhile to make one - it seems. so don't knock what you don't understand :)

I saw Adam and Jamie do this... Funny if you ask me but it doesn't make it into anything else, it's still a turd. hahaha |

Who cares? It's an obvious "effect" so you ought to be 4-square against it now, right? Now that you know better, or your individual aesthetic has evolved, or whatever... :-)
I just love the way the tools are getting blamed for the workmen's abuse. To my way of thinking, your statement in the OP should be modified to something like: "I hate the way more and more people seem to be resorting to over-the-top processing techniques in an attempt to turn boring images into something exciting. I wish they'd put half as much effort into taking exciting images in the first place."
