Hi everyone,

I'm working with a designer to create a new website for my photography company. We are a wedding and portrait studio. I have attached an image of the first mock-up that the designer has sent me. I am welcome to any and all suggestions, comments, and criticisms.

We have decided on green and brown for our colours, as they are fairly soothing and work well with our style of images. The only thing I will no longer change is the logo, as we have already approved that (although I still welcome your comments).

Thanks very much,
Geoff

I like the vignetted corners! But, it would be even better if it was bigger! - could you have the vignette fill a larger part of the page? Instead of having a brighter normal background and four corner-pics that darken it (if that's how it's done now), it is surely possible to set the normal background color to the darker green and then have a huge brightening vignette-image behind the other page elements. Since it has no detail, the jpeg would be really small.

The curly brackets and the logo works for me, but the contrast green/black may be too low. I like the typeface and the curly brackets - but the square white box does not harmonize perfectly with the more organic style of the font and curls. Perhaps add some "lace" to the sides of the white box? Just something that makes it more organic.

The photo you show is very nice, and I think you should have a lot of them in the portfolio. Especially in the wedding department - Once you have signed up a wedding couple, (which is probably half a year or even a full year in advance), the bride to be is going to check into your page perhaps once a week, look at your beautiful photos and dream about her own wedding. So keep it filled, and frequently add new photos (so: make sure that yo can do that yourself without having to go through the web designer)! I got married a few months ago, so I can tell you from my own experience... Oh, our photographer also had a separate blog for quick posting of new images and comments about the latest shooting. The blog added a much appreciated personal touch, and with it running you won't have to update the normal web page as often.

Thanks Johan. That is all extremely useful, and I will take much of it back to the designer to be considered for the next revision. I really appreciate your input.

Congratulations on your recent marriage! I wish you all the best!

It's beautiful and classy. I wouldn't change anything at this point, it looks good.

I like the vignette corners, BUT, depending on monitor size and browser, they may repeat horizontally spoiling the effect. You may need to contain the horizontal dimension in some way.

Otherwise, it looks very good to me.

Thank you Chinarosepetal, and everyone else. I'm glad to get such good feedback. The business cards have come in, and can be seen on my Facebook Fan page (no Facebook account required). All comments received so far are very much appreciated.
