Just wondering if anybody has seen thenew Tamrac Zipshot Tripod in person yet. Sorta curious about it.
Also, has anybody used the the Datacolor Spydercube?
Any thoughts? |

Never seen either but they both look and sound interesting. The tripod may lack rigidity given its lightness, I wouldn't buy one without trying it. The cube sounds VERY interesting but it would force you to include it in a shot to be able to use it. My brother and I use the lastolite disk for custom white balance and it works great.

| Yeah, the stability is why I was wondering about the tripod, but I'd have to drive at least an hour to even have a chance of MAYBE finding one to look at. The cube you would only have to do for the first shot in a series unless you are vastly changing things, and then you would apply the WB changes to all the series. It's interesting since it has so much more than just grey and white. I've also thought about those expodiscs (sorta pricey) or more recently I saw these elastic one's that fit over the front of any lens to set WB. Can't remember the name... it's in a magazine at home. |

I think you will be seriously disappointed with the Zipshot Tripod if you try using it with your camera. If you use a battery grip and a Nikkor Micro 105mm lens on your camera, it ain't gonna weight 3lbs! With a P&S on it, it would probably be fine, but a hunking great D300 plus extras, I'd give it a miss:) |
