I'm still getting hammered, down 0.5 in the past 48 hours...
Im off to look for an Out of Box version of DPC and will enter creative or OOB shots there.
I've already found a few where emphasis is placed not only on the 3 second wow factor but technicals, depth AND OOB.

I'm going into a downward spiral again. Was looking like it would end at above 6.0 but need some good votes in the next few days to get it back up.

Well, my score decreased 0.5 points in the last 2 days. I hope it is going to recover this in the next 2 days.
Where are NikonJeb and John White ???

You've been here six months, participated in seven challenges and got an honorable mention.
But you haven't become a paid member and posted portfolio images and participated in side challenges with DPCers that are sharing a common theme.....one of THE ways to reach and develop your skills.
Why would you possibly think that creative and OOB shots have no place here?
Give it a try.

So......do you think that us over-potty-trained, anal-retentive, OCD people have an advantage in a challenge like this?

OCD people! sorry im not one of them!
Well maybe a little when Im taking photos but otherwise OCD drives me crazy!
I feel too much structure in an image often removes the human or emotional aspect of the photo.

I'm not getting into a protracted forum flame war with you Jeb, which I'm afraid you seem to partake in on many occasion. I gave that up as a futile excercise when I stopped moderating assorted online forums a few years back. I have my opinion, which I shared, even after a paltry 6 months, non-paid up, no portfolio, measly 7 entries. Thanks for pointing that out. What that has to do with my photographic ability I guess only you can answer, seeing as you highlighted it.
I didn't say OOB has no place, I merely implied that they are not apt to do well in comparison to non-OOB shots, garnered from months (6, woe betide I forget) of my scouring challenges and the forums and comments on portfolios, and that I will enter OOB elsewhere to see how they fare. I discovered shetland two days ago, and shock horror, that only after 12 months he has NO HM's or ribbon's, two of his entries cracked top20 and the rest are all at 32% down to a bottom 3%. His work is stunning, but you must concur, it is not what DPC'ers (uh oh generalisation) like.
It's also unlikely that I will put up a portfolio if I join, as 95% of my work since '83 is film or slide based. Tens of thousands of shots, and I have no time or will to digitise them. Seeing as you studied my profile well, you will see I only went DSLR this year and thus I must not have too many images to put in a portfolio.
The results of the SymIII challenge on Tuesday will no doubt put test to my theory and if a blatently OOB entry wins or is rewarded with a ribbon, I will revist same.
As I say in my profile, I'm here for the comments, and thus far I have received 6 credible ones, leaning in both DMC and DNMC directions, for SymIII, which is all I'm after.

You were the one that pretty much stated that the site sucks.
I merely suggested that you participate in some more, and concentrated ways, that you may get the full measure of the resouces available here.
Take it or leave it, it matters not to me.
Good day.
