Over the last month, 3 photogs whom I respect greatly, have left positive comments on my challenge entries ... and then added "not voting." I really appreciate the comments and their constructive suggestions ... but if you're going to go to the effort to comment ... why not vote?
I'm wondering if you as challenge submitters are seeing this.
And I'm wondering why someone would take the time to leave a comment, but not vote. |

I get the same. And considering how positive the comments are and how dodgy my score is at the time, I really wish they would give me a score. |

probably he participated in challenge and does not vote on what he enters. |

i believe that if you aren't a paying member you can comment but not vote. |

These were all paying members. But it's a good thought. |

I'll do it whenever I enter a challenge; comment but not vote.
More often I just comment on the entries and not vote in general, but that's because I started feeling like votes are empty criticisms but comments are not. To be honest though, I feel I need to get back into voting more because it's part of what drives the site, even though I feel that comments are more useful. |

I sometimes say "not voting right now" because I'm commenting and then will go back and vote later. |

i don't usually vote in challenges i've entered, but i always check out all the photos and sometimes leave comments. i say "not voting" when that happens because sometimes people with an itchy update button finger will think someone left them a nice comment but gave a low score ;) |

I'm kind of neurotic and i feel bad when i vote and don't comment. So...voting takes too much time for me, and i can't do those things everytime. But there are some images i can't resist leaving a comment.

I'll do that in reverse...vote, then come back to comment, and will make a comment that I voted earlier and coming back around to comment (for reasons that Steef mentioned - "itchy update button"). :-) |

When I get those, I figure that person is in the challenge and does not vote when they are entered.
My average tends to usually be better than I get, and as long as I feel I can vote fairly, I usually like to vote in the challenges I am in. I enjoy seeing how others took on the same topic. When I comment but skip voting it is because I have given pre-challenge feedback on a particular entry. That is the situation in which I feel I am biased and should not vote. |

Correct, however their command of the English vernacular is poor at best. :)
They should say "can't vote" not "not voting" |

I get the same and it's little or no more effort to click on "10" as it is to click on ">>"
Except where you come back later to make your mark but then you also have to edit your comment.
All the other reasons above off course are valid, i.e. I took part therefore I'm not voting...s

As far as I am concerned, if you entered a challenge, you should also participate in the voting process. |

Some would argue the opposite is true. That you shouldn't, and many don't and I understand why. |
