Someone will probably tell me this was done a while back, but I just installed the latest update to Canon DPP (Dated 10/18/09) on a new computer and found they have finally added the much needed highlight and shadow recovery controls. I had noticed when viewing others shots from meetups that they were getting much better tonal range for the same scenes. I have been doing some HDR type techniques to pull the highlights in, but this is really what I needed.
If you use DPP and have not updated it in a while, it's time.
