You might be able to use one of these:

I actually live on dry land but will end up either in a yard or cornfield, so this may still be quiet the challenge. |
you could still wear the aquajogger. just for fun. |

| 12 steps from door to Segway, 8 miles to park, or waterfall, 23 more steps in that direction... |

| So how would a telephoto shot from 47 steps be taken? Miles away, would it be DNMC? I'm thinking it might be good to have the door in view in the shot. |

maybe walk out the door of the apartment building, coz technically that's your home .. you just live in an apartment inside it .
i've just paced out the 47 steps .. couldnt be more perfect for me .. :) |

| I think this challenge is cute! I know I won't do well b/c there is not much interesting stuff on this main country road I live on..but I laughed while reading the description and look forward to the voting. I will have to assume everyone followed the rules! |

| I'm moving to Iceland. You can't take 2 steps without photographing something spectacular...47 steps would just be overkill. :) |

The street door of the building can be your starting point, if you wish.

I hnestly think that the ones that really look like they are just taken on a crummy street (but done very well) will win...
if I see a waterfall or an amazing view... i won't be giving them a very high score... well... i might... but you get the idea...
i'm going to try it now, but i live on a plain old street full of houses (as do many) so i'm sure i'll just end up in the middle of my side street with nothing in view but a bunch of leafless trees and plain old houses...
i'm really excited... i'm always up for a good challenge =) |

That is the first thing I thought of. I live in an area with some pretty nice views but with only 47 steps total it would likley have to be a telephoto shot through some sideyard or the like. |

If I take really big steps, I wonder if I could make it to Iceland other wise the neighbours might be wondering what I'm doing in their front yard with a camera.

| I am hoping my 47 steps will get me out of my townhouse complex....and not into the middle of the road. |

I used to live on the beach.......47 steps could have got me to some great spots.....hey, my first ever entry was from my own balcony.........
Now I live in cold, wet, dark england, and finding time when there is light will be tough enough.......lets see what is out the door.....
Will be very interesting to see what people can come up with from challenging locations |

hmm, I am one of those fortunate people that really does live on the shores of a lake. Not that I expect anybody to believe me, but I really, really do. I fully expect to be voted down (if I even enter) because no one would believe me. :(
These were taken from my balcony

Part of validation will be to include a video of yourself leaving your house and counting the steps out loud. There must be distinct changes in direction shown in the video and the last frame must include the scene from your still capture.

You have my sympathy, with all those tourists walking around your front yard trying to get a decent photograph.

| I just tried doing 47 steps, from various doors with various results. Out my back door I can't even walk 35 steps without hitting my fence, which I cannot materialize thru. If I go out the side door from my garage, I end up going over a cliff. That would work but I don't have any repelling equipment. If I walk a straight line from my front door, I cross the street and face a dirt hill, and again, I cannot even walk 35 steps. Now, the only way that works if I start outside my courtyard facing left or right and then do the routine, but it still puts me in the middle of a somewhat dangerous street facing a dirt hill. I might be able to get lucky of there are some critters on the hill, but other than that, this challenge might be a bit tricky :p and yeah, why 47 steps? |

Just wear the same shirt and socks for a week ... ;-)
If you need rappelling equipment, then you'll need a rope and some hardware. I'm in much the same situation as you (sans cliff) -- I'll have to go to the sidewalk first, and not leave directly from my front door. |
