Probably been posted before but found a site that helps one work out when the `golden hour` is in a particular area..

| Bookmarked - thank you! But how freaky is it that the map automatically set itself to where I live? |

It is stalking you. Actually it is stalking your computer based on where it is connected to the internet. |

Now if it could just make those clouds move out of the way of the sun here!

Nice to know we can scientifically determine exactly when to take pictures.
Unfortunately... clouds, reflections, perspective and nature have a funny way of screwing up the precision of our careful calculations. |

Holy moley! This is exactly what I have been looking for - we have this great vantage point that overlooks London here and I have always wondered when would be the best time to catch the sun setting behind the buildings/skyline - and now I have found that 3:40 on November the 2nd is the time to be there.
AWESOME..
busy that day though. :( |

Well heck, since time immemorial we landscape photographers have had to plan ahead to be where we needed to be when the light was "right". I can't count how many times I've driven a significant distance only to be shut down by overcast, mist, rain, whatever. The nice thing about these tools, the Golden Hour calculator and the Ephemeris, is that they help us plan, but we're still at the mercy of the elements.
As we always have been...

| This would be fun to check mid winter when we only have about 5 hours of daylight. |

I, too, have driven hundreds of miles through the night to make morning light only to be disappointed by mother nature, then have her redirect me to something different and unexpected with great lighting for the scene that often times is better than my original carefully prepared agenda. Timing of the golden hour is only a guide, not a god. |

Your golden hour lasts about 3/4 of the day then. Lucky you.
