I got a 50D!! Huge step from my Rebel XTI, I cannot wait for the battery to charge to play with it. Also got a new canon 70-300mm lens, and canon 28-135 lens...Im so freaking excited. I have not been so excited about something in a long time. Thanks everyone for all your input!!!

Congrats on the new gear:)

In the past five years I have owned quite a few different makes and models of camera. But, when I got the Nikon D300, there was an extra flutter of excitement, and deservedly so, cos it was a step up to semi pro gear and the results bore this out. You have just made that similar step up and apart from the steep learning curve, you are going to notice your photos are quite different. They are bigger, sharper and more colourful. It will take awhile to adjust to the new camera, but you won't regret it. My mate bought the 50D a few months ago and I have to admit he has taken some great photos with it...although I told him he should have bought Nikon:))

Enjoy yourself and post some samplers once the battery has charged.

I went to the Junior Musem today and took a few photos with my new camera, thought I would share one of them of the black bear who opened his eyes just long enough for me photograph him!

I made the same step-up at the beginning of summer.

You'll love it. You can actually shoot at ISO 800 and see something besides noise!

From what I have seen here at DPC, you seem to be a good person Jamie. You have had some rough times, so now it seems fitting that something nice should be coming your way. It's pleasing to see that you have something happy to share.

Thank you!! I am planning on it too, only if I can find time. I work 7-7 Friday through Sunday, blah!

Thank you so much, I agree. I have not been so excited about something in a long time. Now, I just have to learn to use this camera, it's much different, but amazing compared to what I had.

Here are a few more from that same day as the bear photo. The panther is the same panther I shot a year or two ago, in the same exact spot (weird).
