There is a huge methodist church on the next block, kindof catecorner from my offic. I have a perfect view of the front of the church to include the steeple and road infront. We have been having a lot of rain and wind today. Anyway about 30 min ago the steeple broke off. The base of the steeple is about 30 feet across and then tapers up to the top where there is a cross. The whole steeple from the point it broke off to the top is prob 50 feet. It fell across a MAJOR road and fell on a white car. The car looked pretty flat from here. The car was in the middle of the road which tells me that it was driving down the road. Lets hope that there was noone driving or that somehow they made it out of the car. God definately works in mysterious ways.

I do not have my camera so no pics of this tradgedy

Is that huge white thing in the background the steeple?

From the photo it does not look good for the guy in the car if he's still in there... :-(

Ah, they changed the photo; it was just an overall shot from the parking lot across the street when i saw it, you could see some emergency vehicles and you could see the steeple was missing from the church, but you couldn't see the steeple on the road...

Ouch! It landed on top of a Lexus. :-(

I hope the occupant(s) are okay. At the time of this article, the emergency crew was "prying a man from a car crushed by the falling steeple"

Obviously the guy was an atheist.

Their website has a couple of photos of the church prior to today's accident. That's a pretty large part of the building to fall off!

I saw a steeplechase in Kentucky once, but they didn't actually catch one...

The driver was extracted and taken to the hospital and did not sustain any life threatening injuries.

Subsequently, Lexus has a new ad coming out...

I hope nobody was planning to use that same setup for the current 'Tilted' challenge! :-P

Are the headlights still lit on that car or is that just a reflection. If they are still lit, Wow... And wow that the guy managed to survive that. I sure hope he has good insurance, Because a crappy insurance company will definately try to rule this one an act of God and say sorry but we do not cover that.

"The remnants of the steeple, which was erected in late 2000 after an Easter tornado damaged its predecessor..."

It was wierd driving past the church this morning going to work. It appears that the guy that was driving the Lexus is ok. They have cleaned up all the debree and have opened the road. It's time for the guy in the car to clean up his life. God has struck him down with "the finger of god" and then gave him a second chance.

Or maybe chance (with some help from Toyota) gave him a second chance... if his life wasn't already cleaned up just fine.

Ok, hold on there cowboy ;)

How can you possibly know the intent of an unknown entity and its regard for some unknown individual? Doesn't that sound a bit presumptive, to proclaim some insider information regarding another person, or especially an omniscient being? No ill-will meant, but this concept is bewildering and sounds very judgmental.

TIA for your response, and thank you for sharing this story. :)

OR it was Satan who prevented the guy from doing acts of kindness & he should try to be evil to prevent such things from happening again ...
mythical entities up to (no)good ...
