I bought this lens a few weeks ago and while I love it as an all the time lens, I think it's not as sharp as I want it to be. Wondering if anyone else noticed this? I used it for my last photo session instead of my 50mm and seems I didnt get as crisp images as I wanted (viewing at 100%).
any thoughts? |

I had that "problem" too, so I sold it and went for the 17-55mm. Not as versatile as the 16-85, but I almost fell of my chair when I blew one of my first photos up to 100%. And that was it, never looked back.
The 16-85 is a superb lens in other ways though. And you can get great quality images if you hit the perfect exposure. I think it is at its sharpest at 24-70mm with f/8-11, so whenever you are able to shoot with those settings you will most likely see a great difference.

| You really can't compare the 16-85, which was made basically as a walk around kit lens, with either the 50mm or the 17-55. the later two are very fast lenses in comparison. And in the case of the 17-55 just look at the cost difference. |
