Sadly, that is correct.

Do pigeons count as animals?? Can I borrow someone's child? I promise it won't hurt much... just a little peanut butter on the fingers, maybe... really, the beaks aren't THAT sharp...

Haha, it is going to be close! My experiment is more with the voters, I have 4 that really like it one that says it doesn't work and one DNMC comment. :P
I will check back in at a 100 votes. :)

Is it possible to get a lower score than your bye opponent yet still win?
10/28/2009 03:42:22 PM · #39
UH OH! This week's challenge has brought up a big problem, imo, although maybe it's already been answered and I just missed it.

How do you deal with the fact that some challenges are scored much more harshly than others. This week's challenges, for example have very different scores. The camera motion looks like it will be a much lower scoring challenge than photographing photographers. And next week will be worse. Animals usually score extremely high comparatively. Are we going by score? Which means I should probably pick the happier scoring challenge, or by placement in the challenge itself? If the contestants are in the same challenge, that's not a problem. But I could see someone winning the blue ribbon in movement and yet having a .5 point lower score than a 9th place person in photographing photographer...

If this is the first challenge week, maybe it can be based on percentile ranking within the challenges rather than absolute point score, as is being done in the "DPC Golf" tournament.

A "seed" is a placement in the bracket based on some criteria, usually involving previous achievement. For example, the top seed (person with the best record) is usually matched against the person with the worst record, the one with the second-best record against the one with the second-worst record, and so forth. The idea is to reward those with a previous record of high achievement by giving them an easier path to the championship.

It seems like something like this happened to me in this tournament once. I dont think I ribboned and still was eliminated, but it does seem like I was in the top 10 or so.

In other tournaments, I have a REALLY good score that would beat almost everyone else in the tournament, except for the photog I'm going directly against.

In one of the earlier tournaments, I had this shot - 6th place, One of my top ten scores of ALL TIME (with a score of 6.7815) and I was feeling pretty stinking good going into roll-over.

HOWEVER, my "opponent" had entered this which earned him a red for the challenge.

Just how the cookie crumbles.

You need to enter every week, whether you have an opponent or not, if I read the rules correctly. This week you are going against ml. If you win, next week you will go against the winner of the jjstager2 vs BYE match. Make sense?

You have the freedom to choose either challenge, so you should take that matter in to consideration when entering.
