Hi to anybody that cares to read this..
Way back in the 80's I used to be quite into photography with my trusty Pentax ME super (not sure the computer had been invented then, let alone a digital camera).
Today I'm a happy digital snapper that aspires to be a decent photographer - thats why I'm here - for help a guidance.
I'd be happy if any members would care to visit my albums and pick out any pictures that show promise, I have my favourites but I may be way off target with what 'really' makes a good photograph.
I have several albums in my gallery the only pictures that are not mine belong to Ben & Chenz, I've also got a 'Hall of Fame' for pictures of Tropical fish that I personally like. all the other albums contain my pictures.
Looking forward to any comments you may have.
My Gallery (don't forget to look at my fish)

nice shot. the link to your gallery keeps coming up empty tho.
I like the fish pic. What were your spec for it> I reently took some shots of fishies but they come out fuzzy bc of the movement & long exposure due to minimal lighting.

Thanks Rooster, the Metriaclima Crabro - Hornet Cichlid (aka The Boss) was taken with the Fuji 6900. Can't remember the settings but most of my fish pics are 300/f3.5 with external flash (mental note to record settings)
The Gallery link works for me (though am having probs with host) did clicking on the pics take you to my site?

Hey Hey
First, welcome to the site! I got to the site by clicking the fish shot. Some really nice work there. I'll have to try your settings next I get to the aquarium.

That is a terrific site. Very well done, and some great pics. I could not get the aquarium cam to work though.
But a great job on the site, and on the fish pictures, they can be difficult to shoot well. |

Thanks for the welcome, I think I'm going to learn a lot in here. As for the tips on taking fish pics, do you realy need them?
imho, glass, water, artificial lighting and darting fish are a challenge for even the most experienced photographer, 10 decent pics from a 100 shot session is good going

yeah, I guess you are right. As for the starfish, well, it aint moving. The shots I took of the sharks, well, they left a lot to be desired as to being technically sound.

lol @ aint moving :)
I have a few sedentary fish but they tend to be nocturnal and good at playing hide and seek, luckily I have one or two that play up to the camera.
This baby is considered endangered and certainly deserves its name 'Red Torpedo'
Since this seems such a nice place to be I've signed up so you can critique some of my older pics from my profile.

Sure does, and that brings me nicely onto stock or standard pictures everybody has taken. I put a few old images on my profile last night, the flower, a sunset, a chimney and a daffodil - I'm sure everybody has taken exactly the same shots?
