Howdy, I just got my first large muslin, 10' x 20'. I usually use a black backdrop and make it vanish, but it looks like I'll be shooting portraits at a ball so I needed something bigger and nicer. My question is how do you store these large muslins so when you put them up they don't have the square folds in them? I've seen a wrinkled look on backdrops before where it seems the photographer just crumpled it up into a bag, but I have also seen smooth seemless backdrops.

Hey David. For a smooth seamless look you need to roll them up on something like a large PVC pipe - no folds anywhere. But the most common way to travel with them is to wad them up in a bag. As long as your subjects are 4 or 5 feet away from the BG, and it is properly lighted, you won't see the wrinkles.

Or invest in a steamer and when you get where you need to be, hang it up and steam out the creases real quick.
