I've just bought A Canon 300D my first none point and click camera.
So I'm a real beginner with a slr. What I want to know is will this camera auto focus with lenses of any focal ratio.

The canon 300D and 10D will autofocus with lenses with a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or larger. That covers nearly all lenses except some long telephotos.
Adding a tleeconverter between the camera and a moderately long but slow telephot can also result in a max. aperture smaller than f/5.6, e.g. Canon 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens @ 200mm (f/5.6 max aperture) plus 1.4x teleconverter = f/8 maximum aperture.

Thanks for the help guys. I have got the kit and it is good enough for me at the mo as I,m only a beginner but in the future i'll be looking for maybe a macro lense and perhaps a 200mm or 300mm zoom. from what you say it shouldn't be a problem for me to find one.
 Thanks again for your help
