That could be a possibility, though the voter's listed location is Maine. I got the impression the comment referred to the "able to move on its own" part of the description ... which I thought was a stupid restriction anyway. |

I also got a DNMC -- mine is human being with something (I looked, and there's enough of those that I thought I could say it). But I got the same message, DNMC because it has to be able to move on its own.
I think they had "able to move on it's own" so you're not just throwing something into the picture. They wanted it to be obvious that something was moving in or out of the frame. I thought we'd see some spectacular stuff, but I do think there were a lot of people who just didn't get it. And I think there's a lot of photographers who understood, but are getting voted down my people who don't. Oh well, it my my challenge suggestion--sorry folks!

ahh... same commenter. I appreciated the fact that there was a reason for the low vote, though. It never occurred to me that someone would think it was a dnmc. |

Hey all you brilliant people! I just bought a UV filter for the new lens, but my camera store was out of Hoya, so I went to Ritz and got a Quantaray professional filter. I don't do much shopping at Ritz, because it seems more point and shoot and lower end stuff. Does anyone know anything about this filter? Is it good, or should I return it and mail order something else? (I bought it without knowing, because I wanted to play with the new lens when it arrived. But 77mm filters are pricey, so I'd like to get my money's worth. |

Which lens? The 10-22?
Oddly, I don't have a filter on that one, I don't think. A Quantaray should be fine. You can replace it later if you wish. I've had those before. Their whole purpose is to prevent you from damaging the lens. I bought one at a German camera store for my new toy - VERY pricy - don't know the brand but it says "Made in Germany" (in English) so I figure it can't be all bad. |

no lens today. Rescheduled. my neighbor stayed home so that she could sign for it (I had to work). Don't feel like I can impose for 2 days in a row. So who knows whether they're be a lens tomorrow, or whether it will come while I'm at work so they take it back with them.
I'm still irritated that they can't give you a more definite window than a 12 hour period. They know the schedule, and yes, I know it changes, but not that much. Not too many people can stay home for 12 hours to be able to receive a package.
I know it's stupid and only one day, but it's very disappointing... |

Frustrating. I had the same experience while waiting for my 18-200 to arrive. |

You can call them and ask them to hold it at the receiving facility, and pick it up there, if it's not too far; mine's just a few miles away, so that's how i do it. I can't hear them knock, so I miss it otherwise. I have tried to give them permission to enter the house and wave at me, but they won't allow their drivers to do that :-)

Have you considered having someone wire a doorbell button so that it triggers a flashing light or something? |

I've seen that, in London.
"Hey, there's somebody in, I saw the lights go on."
"Duh-uh, they're deaf, that's how they know there's someone on the bell pusher." |

I don't have a doorbell. And I mostly prefer not to be disturbed anyhow. And UPS is within driving distance. And besides, Penny lives here now and she can hear. Except that right now she's in Australia, so if you come knocking I ain't rocking.

Yeah, The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress ... :-)
You could install the light where it can't be seen from the front door -- I was thinking a small signal light, not turning on an overhead room light. |

I checked once before, and the pickup place is definitely not close. Usually they come in the late afternoon, so I guess I'm going to just hope and deal with it if it doesn't work. |

It has to ever since the batteries in the RC controller died ... ;-)
BTW the comment (and apparently several other similar ones) has/have been removed or modified, so it was probably a misunderstanding in the first place. |

I'm right there with you. I'm just going to do side challenges for awhile until I get over the sting of the last ones that I have entered and sucked at. |

I'm especially curious to see the scoring difference between the commenters and non-commenters this time ...
