I think voters spend too much time worrying about whether or not a photo meets the challenge description rather than appreciating the different interpretations that a challenge can be taken. If this challenge is taken (and I hope it is, I think it would be fun), I hope people would just vote on the image.

you agreed with me without knowing it. I dont think the voters would care or even know enough about the techniques (as proven by previous challenges) to look for each in the photo, and thus they will vote based on the image (which in essences, eliminates the 'rules' put in place)

regardless, it is still an interesting idea, but I think it goes far beyond the criteria they would choose for a challenge

I was stating this as a concept of blending themes...techniques...whatever. If we get with the basic concept that's a start and it seems like people generally are liking what we've laid down...generally.

First, let's NOT get bogged down by peoples hang-ups. That's governing from the bottom up and I'd rather bowl over that mentality than appease it. That philosophy causes stagnation and I assume nobody want's that? ...?

Lev-For the moment I wouldn't rule out any combination's and more important, different combination's are all new Challenges within themselves. This concept could be run over and over in a variety of ways the same way we run Challenges now.

Whether things roll out in pairs (Low-Key Triptychs, Soft Focus Split-Tones) or in three's or choose any 3 of 5 suggested techniques...they ALL can work and be a new way of approaching Challenge Topics. If it's Genre+Technique...why not? We ALL do that anyway.

An important way to look at it is that some artist have entire body's of work dedicated narrowed down techniques (Soft Focus B&W Portraiture, for example)...some here at DPC, where they stick to similar technical themes and some are very popular throughout the internet and art world.

It's right in our pockets as we stand...

Grunge-High Contrast, Low Key, Green/Blue or Warm Filters, heavy D&B.
In The Style Of:Heida-There are certain parameters that people identify as her style.

Almost the same thing but more wide open if you understand.
