Everything you said before "New mini-me..." makes no sense to me whatsoever. On the other hand, best of luck with the new mini-me to both you and the lovely inductee! :-) |

My desktop computer suddenly stopped booting for me, likely because it found out I had a replacement "on the way." After much data transferring in my fragmented free time, I've managed to get all of my photography work (yay Aperture!) onto the external drive for my new mac mini (old one was a G5, circa 2002). What this means is that I can ponder taking pictures of things, and possibly chasing that elusive brown ribbon again.
Not to go all Mac/PC here, but the mac "boot up as a firewire drive" was invaluable in getting things moved around.
Getting this done soon was important, since we're expecting our next son in a couple of weeks! In case I fall behind on challenge results, I'm willing to share my python script which generates the post. My old web interface trick doesn't work; my hosted domain runs python 2.4 and my script using python 3. PM me if you're interested. |
Ooh congrats on both the new toy and new son! Have a plate of brownies waiting in celebration :-) |
So when is the actual due date? How close are we getting? |

As long as we're on new editions, I may's well announce the acquisition of a new laptop. The one I got from Eric Woo is staggering on its last legs, and I found a deal too good to turn down, so I got some serious speed in my hands now. Thanks, Eric, for the tide-over :-)

LOL, 3 maybe 4 years ago I bought the newest, biggest, badest desktop Gateway made, The GX7022E. It cost almost $1,700. Yes it̢۪s a little slower but still is a good computer. My wife just bought a new laptop that would blow the keys off my desktop when it was new, and paid a little more than $400..Just saying.. |

My wife is scheduled for induced labor next Thursday morning. We're in the "home stretch", but I'm sure she would not appreciate that analogy. |

Nor would you, under somewhat different circumstances ...

At least the birthing practices of the Huichol (of Mexico) have failed to gain a large foothold here. It may be too late, but based on my experience, you may want to consider a fluid-resistant model like an Olympus stylus. |
"Huichol Indians are descendants of the Aztecs, and live in the mountains of North Central Mexico. During traditional childbirth, the father sits above his labouring wife on the roof of their hut. Ropes are tied around his testicles and his wife holds onto the other ends. Each time she feels a painful contraction, she tugs on the ropes so that her husband will share some of the pain of their child's entrance into the world."
Holy shit! |

haha! No, I don't think she would!
So are you catering to her every whim? You should go out and buy her tahitian treat and fudgcicles! That's what I craved with my first. With my second child, I craved vegetables. What fun is that!?! |

Of course! I filled the freezer with my (insanely popular and delicious) homemade tamales. I have the recipe posted on a picture in my profile/portfolio somewhere. |

Somehow, I don't think tonight was the best time for CBS to be breaking out a fresh episode of "Survivor: Samoa"

Thanx a lot! Very detailed... I'm not a stranger to tamale making, though I have never mass-produced them like this. But I do cook a LOT of Mexican. I'll get my Salpicon de res recipe up for you soon; it would actually make a good meat for los tamals...

Thank you all. The injury itself was such that it wasn't going to get better. If we'd let him out into his wild and free (inner city) environment, he'd have been mown down by something soon enough. While it may be tempting to allow that sort of nature to have its way, in the end we had to keep him in and there goes the quality of his life. QED
The vet was fantastic - hustled the administration out of the way first, then talked us through the process before actually starting it - the whole monty, really.
Boo hoo (we've had some of that)...

Peter, I am so sorry. But ending Simon's suffering is the only way to go. You're doing the right thing. ((HUGS)) from Susan, Druli and Lily. |
