Okay, so my 7 yr old has a small cavity in one of his molars.
Tiny, but needing to be fixed before it gets worse.

We went to our regular dentist yesterday a little before 2pm to get this done.
But that just was NOT going to happen.

And Boo usually likes the dentist too - makes no fuss about getting his teeth cleaned or having X-Rays done.

But yesterday, he was in full melt-down mode. Tears, shaking in fright, grabbing at the dentist and hitting me. He was SO frightened.

Dentist left and I got Boo calmed down, but as soon he saw the dentist, he broke down again.

Never even got the freezing in, just the jelly onto his gum (like Ambesol stuff). That was it.

So - they refer us to a pediatric dentist, which is a specialist, which means we pay $$ out up front, and hope that insurance covers it after.

$125 for a consultation. To just talk to us and take a quick look in Boo's mouth.

We go back next month and plop down another $300 for oral sedation (Atarax) and laughing gas and one tiny filling.

*Sigh* Tell me it's all worth it in the end. It's been ages since I've seen Boo like this - it is painful to watch and not be able to help him.

aw... that's too bad! It is terribly difficult when they're afraid of something and you can't help. My 10 year old is terrified of heights. When he was little, he'd crawl across the climbing area to get to the slide, and it was only about 4 ft high! He's getting much better at dealing with it. But he still gets so afraid at times.

Our kids, when they were kids, did go to a pediatric dentist. **So did their Mom.** That dentist had video games, headsets with music, tv's in every exam room and it was almost like it was an amusement park. But the big draw was the glassed-in cage at the end of the hallway with three monkeys to watch and provide amusement. To this date (age 29 and 26) they are fine with dentists.
Now this nice upbeat report is being given by someone with a drooling and sagging mouth after her last session of a root canal. You should hear me talk ... maybe not. I could get committed.

Yea gads, just thinking of how much that dentist probably charged you, to help cover the cost of said video games, music, V, and monkeys(!?) makes my teeth hurt! Glad I can get away with a 1x/year visit.

Hey, anyone here ever had their pet's teeth cleaned? I had Druli's done a few times but stopped. Too much $$ and wasn't convinced that putting an elderly cat under needless anesthetic is a good idea.

And get this...a few years ago some new vet, fresh from school, looked me in the eye and told me he needed one of his incisors taken out. Uhhh...said incisors are about the size of a lower-case t on my comp. So I asked for a quote...$615 CDN or what, $800 USD?! I told her for THAT sum I was expecting to get MY teeth cleaned and a damn good workup too! Needless to say, didn't do it.

Yes, I'm sure it's worth it. Yesterday was just a very painful day.

No, we've not gotten the pets teeth cleaned, though it has been suggested for Butterscotch (our 10-yr old cat).

Ok, I think I have a problem...

I very excitedly took a picture for tonight's challenge--thinking "lines". I thought that it fits "lines" very well. But I don't think it fits either straight or curved lines at all.

Can someone take a look and give me an opinion whether or not this would work in either challenge? I think I might be screwed...

Well I have something in for straight should bomb as I like it. It is very out of the box thinking which I don't think people like.

Hello everyone and how are we all doing tonight? Well I hope.

I have some exciting news to share with all of you.

You can find it here in this thread. >>>>>>This thread right here!!!<<<<<<

Thank you for looking.

Lea, we had a similar thing happen with Isaac not to long ago over having blood taken. It turned out that he was frightened of the cramped space we were in and not the blood taking process it's self. We went into a much larger space at the hospital and we were out in 5 minuts. So sad for Boo, I hope he's feeling better soon.

MAX!

LOL you made me laugh and when I'm looking at the brown ribbon I'll remember this :~)

Everyone needs at least one brown..
09/29/2009 08:47:22 PM · #493
blech. I really liked my lines entry, but it just doesn't fit straight or curved. You would think anything that fit lines should fit in one or the other--but that's not the case.

poop! Now I have to go take something quick.

Congrats Max. That's such good news. Too bad it wasn't on last weekend ... I was in Toronto for work and was enjoying checking out Canadian TV.

Thank you so much. The next time your heading our way just drop me a line, we're always close to Toronto and I own my own business so getting away to shoot if you have time shouldn't be a problem.

Think about it.

All the best to you and yours.
