| Thanks! I'd never even think to look for that. Now to figure out how to do it... (best go charge battery first.) |

I've never done a firmware update either on this camera, but the instructions on the link seem detailed and not that difficult. |

| I tried it - it got to "VERSION UP ON GOING" then gave me an error - something about checking the card. So I took the card out, deleted the upgrade, reformatted it in the camera, put the upgrade back on, and tried again - this time it didn't recognize that the upgrade was on it at all. So I checked the firmware version and it showed 2.0. Apparently it worked?? I do have some of the new features. There's a problem with the HDR scene mode - it has three options - STD, Art, B&W - but if you want to change between them you have to turn the camera off, select the HDR scene mode again, and reset. Not sure what it does, though. :-) |

I upgraded as well, but used the US version (1.3) rather than the one in the linky, which appears to be for the Japanese site.
Not sure if there's a difference for cameras sold overseas (or over here, depending on your perspective), but didn't want to take the chance. |

Mine was shipped from the Asia/Pac area and came with 1.3. They have banner ads announcing the upgrade on dpreview.com. That tells me it is a global upgrade meant for all.
I didn't even know there were different models like the K and S for US markets. Looks like it's just a designation for black (K) and silver (S).

| Anyone else with a US model try ver 2.0? I think David is probably right, but curious why 2.0 wouldn't be listed on the US support page. Seems to have a bit more functionality than 1.3, including quicker focus and faux-HDR. (Mine came with ver. 1.0, so 1.3 still an upgrade for me). |

At the moment it looks like Panasonic has pulled the firmware up-grade off their website for some reason...other websites are saying they must have discovered a bug....here is a link to a discussion on the topic:

if you look at discussion you will see the thread on the firmware 2.0 upgrade |

I up-graded my camera too last night---seems fine. Some camera owners are seeing an issue with the 1:1 and raw:
I am impressed with the new firmware and excellent attitude to support the LX3 users with all these significant feature upgrades. The most obvious limitiation seems to be the RAW 1:1 compatibility issue - maybe there is a simple fix that they can now introduce. It is either that or something else with little obvious impact but easily patched. I think that I have tested most functions and all "seems" well !

Looks like they had some issues with the update.
"around Oct 20" for the fix.
