Hi
Does anybody use this combination?
I would like to get a view and examples on loss of image quality. Can anybody help?

I'd like to know too, but I wouldn't expect much. |

Tried it, had it, very crude with a loss of VR and auto functions. Obviously VR would be useless anyhow and the image is quite soft. 80-400 is not compatible with tele extenders anyhow.
Hope that helps. |

The Nikon 80-400 VR does not do well with any TC, even the Nikon.

Hi
I practise this long weekend. I found the picture of this lens at 400mm very sharp. When I added the teleconvertor (Kenko pro 300 1.4) The photos where not that sharp (especially at max focal length and small detail object like a bird - better with bigger object) but I think I can imptove it with some more practise. The autofocus worked well - maybe hunted a little bit more.
Thanks
