Just came back from skiing. Some a**hole stole my sister-in-law's skis. Worse, is that I just bought them for her. It was her first day with them. Feels like I just threw the $$$ out the window.
You know, what? That scream didn't help at all. I'm still pissed!!!!

last winter my cousin was moving to Calgary from Kelowna, BC and had her kickass skiis in her car [which she was giving to me] and someone broke into her car just days before she was leaving for good and took EVERYTHING including the beloved skiis. That's probably the first crime ever committed in Kelowna...lol .. and alas I haven't skiied since, I can't afford to rent equipment!!!!!!!!! |

That is sooooo weird! Cuz I was about to rent some skis when I saw a really cool set just standing there looking all lonely, so I took them.
It was like some stranger bought me a pair for free!
I love America!

Sucky...
Did you have travel insurance? If so, hope the excess isn't too much.

I did. I purchased it with my AMEX. How does one go about finding out if it would be covered?

Hey mariomel... if AmEx will cover it, why don't you buy a Canon 10D and lay it down on a counter real casual like and then go to the bathroom... and then I'll take the camera... and you tell AmEx it was stolen... and you get a free camera!
Er... did I not send this via Private Message?

just call up AmEx (the number is probably on the back of the card) and tell them that you bought the ski's on such and such a day.. and tell them that they were stolen and ask if there is theft coverage on it.... My mom just bought a canon camera from ebay.. and it came broke.. the store said.. 'send it to canon' and so she called her credit card company to see if they had insurance on it... but they said... no sorry.. it only covers theft and damage.......
