I just bought a Nikon 105mm VR Macro lens... here's my other lens lineup:
Nikon AF Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX
Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D
Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR II
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G
Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II
Nikon MF Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 AI
Nikon Series E 50mm f/1.8
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) for Nikon
Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4.0 AT-X 124AF Pro DX
.
Should I keep or dump the 85mm f/1.8 lens??? any thoughts??? will this 105mm do the job of the 85mm as well???
let me know... thanks |

well, the 18-55 will only bring in like $60 (It is my backup lens that lives on my D40 camera)
I can get $300 US for the 85mm Easily on ebay...
is it worth keeping for that much??? if you were going out shooting headshots, which would you bring? 85mm or 105mm ?? |

I'd use the 85 for headshots, because I find the 105 a bit heavy, but you may be stronger than I am.
That said though, when I was making the same decision, I sold the 85. I don't do enough portraiture to justify a lens that I was only going to use for headshots. |

I will double dito what Bear dito'd No sense hanging on to that kit lens when you have the dream team of glass.
eta: I just thought about this, I kept my 18-55 but only because it was the kit lens with my d-50 if I ever decide to sell that camera I can chuck that lens on there. It hasn't been on a camera for going on nearly 4 years.
