Yeah, we caught the guy who had two accounts and have turned a blind eye to all of the scums that rip off copyrighted images posted on DPC. Sweet Victory!!!

I'll start cheering when the latter is remedied by the SC and admins. In the meantime, this is like swatting a mosquito in a swamp and feeling like you've made a dent.

Meh.

I heard some environmentalists do not even kill these mosquitos, they just put condoms on them and let them go. It seems it somehow stops them from reproducing. Great way to solve mosquito problem.

It's been discussed over and over that there is no practical way to prevent someone from ripping off your photo if they want to (yet people clamor to enter bigger images), DPC DOES automatically rename your file (so if someone downloads it they have no claim of unknowing infringement), and DPC has no jurisdiction to participate in an infringement claim (unless they post a screenshot of the whole page). Just what is your solution?

PS: SC members have no access to the site code.

Strangely enough, SC doesn't have all that much control over what goes on outside DPC. Imagine that! They are, however, doing what they can within DPC to keep this a decent and fair place.

I just realized they are from Louisiana. And one of their photos was taken in my town. Perhaps I am kenskid and rugman1969, and I don't even know it!?! Maybe I am SEG too.

You are right, DPC has no right to participate in an infringement claim but does have the right to benefit from photos that are repeatedly stolen from its site? Seems sorta Pius to me. Tell me, what is DPC doing to be part of the solution? This is a sincere request as I too do not have access to the site code.

No, each individual computer's IP address is not openly visible on the public internet. There is just not enough permutations of IP numbers to go around. The IP address that shows up will be that of your 1) router/cable modem, 2) your company's or hotspot's network switch/router, 3) your ISP address of your mobile broadband's connection, etc.

So, if you have 1000 computers at work, then your IP address will probably be the same across many of them (your company may have more than one router/network switch). If you have three PCs at home, they will appear as the same IP address to web sites.

At least until IPv6 is totally implemented. There are enough permutations there to assign every atom in the solar system an IP. I guess if you could examine the packets coming in from the users the Mac address would be included as someone else pointed out earlier. I really don't know if DPC logs this data. Been seeing Kenskid for a long time and really didn't suspect that was going on. Hell, maybe he's Rose too!
