i have a elinchrom EL skyport universal trigger and reciever. last year i had it hooked up to a canon rebel xti and the reciever to a canon 430ex with hot shoe mount addapter. i used a sync cord to link the reciever to the addapter and it work flawlessly. no misfires and 100% accuracy.

i didnt use the trigger set for almost a year. i got a different camera and a vivitar flash. i got an addapter just like befor and hooked everything up. no fire, no nothing. charged the reciever, changed the battery in the transmitter. checked the connection signal a million times, cleaned the sync ports. tried it on my friends flash and nothing.

i go to my local elinchrom dealer and they tell me elinchrom EL skyport universal triggers are designed for studio stobes and nothing else, they are not compatable with regular hot shoe flashes.
to be sure the trigger was working i hooked it up to a studio stobe and it worked as if it was right out of the box. now im really confused.

if i cant figure out how a bypassed its programming again ill have to sell the trigger set and possibly shell out money for pocket wizards which i really do not want to do.

can anybody shed some light on my situation.

turns out the guy who told me it wasnt compatable was BS ing me. went to a different store, set it up with a single pin hot shoe adapter. works fine, time to buy a flash!
