At least I hit the 5s. Having two sub-five entries at once was depressing.

I've climbed all the way up to 4.7. No comments. My shot must be so clever that nobody gets it :)

I really don't get it. I quickly peeked through the entries this morning and they really seemed SO good on average.

I've failed to meet the challenge, it seems. And that's fair. The voters are always right with respect to meeting the challenge. I will agree on this one. Though I think were there to be an exhibit titled "9" and nothing more, and folks had time to enjoy themselves rather than issue a score and move on, this might be accepted. Or perhaps it just really sucks - there is indeed that option! I'm good with the score on this one.

I thought I'd end up at a 5.25 ....I may have been too optimistic

I'm not impressed with the RUDE feedback users are giving me because my photo "looks like a snapshot" and the colours are "flat". Perhaps that was my intended effect? Perhaps I didn't want to put up a picture of the number nine because that's crap. Everyone does that.

In truth, I wanted something to upload as I was short on time and inspiration. Get over yourselves. Just because it's not a masterpiece, just because I don't have some freaking swanky set up. DOES NOT MAKE IT CRAP. I haven't gotten any scores above 5 on any of my pieces because people seem to think that everyone has a full studio. They do not. I'm almost fed up, I've had a bad day and the last thing I want is for someone to be "critiquing" my work.

Now if an admin sees this, pull my entry. I don't want to be involved in this challenge anymore.

alright. I wasn't going to post but I need to do it before I dip under six. At this rate, it won't be long. I was at 6.50 just a few votes ago. I hit update and now it's waaaaay lower. EEEKK!

and lower still..... in just a few short minutes at that.

I'm grateful for so many votes though. sometimes you can hit that update button ten times and nothing changes.

Yikes! Maybe you've join the wrong site?

I think DPC should add to the T&C a phrase like, "You must be thick-skinned to participate in the challenges."

The main reason I am here is the critiques, thats how i get better. what really sucks is scoring low and getting no comments to know WHY?!?!?!

I can understand critiquing, that's fine, but things like "Wow, I never expected to see this kind of thing here" comments. ARE NOT APPRECIATED. They are not funny and they are not helpful. Instead of saying "This is shit and it's low quality" how about explaining yourself and telling me how I can make it better, huh?

Accept that everyone is different - in what they like to shoot, in what they like to see, in how they offer comments and critiques. If it is not helpful to you, do not mark it helpful, and move on. Try your hand at critiquing others. Practice giving the kind of advice you would like to receive. You will find that FAR more useful than waiting for that perfect critique. Finally, at the end of the challenge you can always ask for more feedback.

I agree...if you don't like it / something doesn't work...at least say WHY!

Why don't you PM the commenter (now or after voting is over) and ask how they feel it could be a better photograph?

I suppose.

Forgive me, I am in THE pissiest mood. I spent half an hour at the police station this morning because I got scammed into thinking I had a job for it to turn out to be a money laundering scheme. Then an hour sorting out my bank accounts and half an hour waiting in line at social security to be told they couldn't give me a thing.
