Sad stuff and especially the way the media hounded him. Loved a lot of his movies, sorry to hear.

Unfortunately, you just don't get better with pancreatic cancer. There is no if--just when. 1.5 years is actually a pretty good survival rate. My dad made it to 1.5 years as well--and they are definitely in the minority. It's one of the swiftest, most lethal types of cancer. And I agree with Bugzeye--CANCER SUCKS!!

Wow, sorry to hear that. I wasn't a huge fan but didn't dislike him either.

And fwiw, not trying to start a one-upmanship thing here...pancreatic has a higher longetivity rate than liver cancer. I know someone who went within 3 weeks of being diagnosed. Horrible way to go.

I so badly wanted to believe he could beat it. 57 is far too young to die.

His best movie was Red Dawn. He protrayed the high school football hero turned FREEDOM FIGHTER after the Soviet Communist scum along with Cuban Socialists staged a surprise attack on the US.

Powers Booth parachuted into the mountian hideout after shooting down 4 Soviet jets. He brought news that the Soviets nuked parts of the US and even nuked China before invading the US.

We need more movies like this. We should also make viewing these movies in schools MANDATORY. The kids should also have to write a paper following the movie titled "How can I help to keep the Commies and the Socialist out of the US".

Ghost was good too.

Are you serious about the kids writing a paper about keeping "Commies and the Socialist out of the US" or is that tongue in cheek? And you do know that the Soviets did not nuke the US, right? That was a movie, right? Or did I miss a good nuking??

No they did not really nuke us...it was in the movie. Powers Boothe dropped in on the mountian and told the freedom fighters how the "occupation" started.

This was Swayze's best movie. He dirty danced all over the faces of commie and socialist pigs.

Do we want commies and socialists in our country? What better way to keep them out than through early indoctrination of our youth.

I'm terribly sorry I asked. This should remain a thread about a seemingly very nice and genuine man who lost his battle with cancer, and the positive legacy that he leaves behind.

Sorry...you're right...I take back what I said about kids writing a paper on keeping communist and socialist out of the US.

However, Red Dawn was the best of his action movies. One of the best scenes was when he shot the unarmed Soviet soldier in the head while he called for help on the radio. I wonder if the rules of the Geneva Convention were recognized by the Soviets and Cuban's in Red Dawn? At one point before the execution, the soviet said this is against the Geneva Convention and Swayze said..."I NEVER HEARD OF IT"...LOL....

Later in the movie the kids had to shoot one of their own when it was found that he swallowed a tracking device that led the Soviets to their camp.
