I am trying to open RAW NEF files in PS CS2. But for some reason it will not open the files and is giving me the following Error Message. Can anyone give me some quick advice on how to resolve this.
Error Message: Could not complete your request because of a problem with the file-format module interface.

Possibly update the RAW module?

I did that, got version 3.7 still wont open the raw files. I have spent the last couple of hours on Adobe's support pages but have not found much help.

OK, touchy question - but is it a legit version of CS2? When I had my, ahem, acquired copy, I had no end of problems opening files etc. Once I removed and installed my shiny, overpriced copy, it worked a treat.

yeah it is legit, bought it direct from Adobe a few weeks after it was released and have it completely updated.
According to google CS2 does not support the NEF from the d-300 but the DNG convertor is supposed to allow you to convert the files to dng and then they will open in CS2 so I downloaded the DNG convertor and it is also giving me error messages. I do not want to cough up the money to purchase the upgrade to CS3 or 4 at the moment so I was hoping to get this working, I want to process my HDR entry, But am at a total standstill now. Argghhh!!! Not sure if I should be mad at Nikon or Adobe or perhaps both. |

Put your CD back in and try restoring missing files. If that doesn't work then uninstall PS and reinstall it.

according the what i have read, CS2 will not read the NEF files from my camera, Only if converted to DNG so reinstalling would probably be a waste of time, But I will give the restoring missing files option a go once and see what happens.

You are right the NEF files from your camera are newer than the support of your software. Try doing a CS3/4 trial and opening your files that way. If it works then maybe you could get a refund from Adobe and get a newer version.
