Well, it was something I kept quiet about until the first one was out of the way and now it is I am really stoked to say that Kevip6 and I hosted a very successful one day training course on the basics of wedding photography. We hired out a venue, had 4 students which was a manageable amount for our first time, a couple of models, hot buffet lunch and lots of questions answered! Splitting the day up, we had the discussion about the `wedding day` listing the do's and the do not's, a chat about equipment and we briefly touched on some business stuff (which wasn't in the scope of this course, maybe a later one? who knows) and had a very successful morning. In the afternoon we took our models around the venue and showed the `students` how to scout out locations that make for interesting wedding photos, we talked about posing, lighting, communication etc, then we used the function suite to cover the basic of flash photography both on-camera and off camera.
At this point Kevin produced his set of pocket wizards and I was blown away by them! SO much so I purchased myself a TT1 and TT5 this morning.
Anyway, everyone had a great time, learned loads and hopefully have gone away thinking about their wedding photography in a different mind..
And I didn't shout at anyone ONCE!!
A couple of images from the day attached..

I would love to attend something like this. But for me, the business end would be a must. |

Congrats, Mark. Say, is wedding season finished for you guys already? We usually don't do these kinds of classes until December or January when weddings are finished for the year. Of course, our wedding season is about 9 months here. I still have 3 more booked this year, latest is mid-November.
I'm glad your class was successful. Next time you will be ready to handle twice as many students! ;)

Nope, wedding season is in full swing - but Kev had the idea and we kind of just run with it. I think next time will be an Autumnal thing though - I have 8 to go between now and November so its still very busy. |
