There is a 50/50 chance I will not be able to fix my Rebel XT after I did a boneheaded stunt with it. (Fixed my $100 lens and broke the $300 camera with it).

If I can't fix it, I will be shopping for a new-to-me Canon. I can probably manage $400-500 US. Any suggestions? I am currently considering:

Rebel XS (Can find for about $400-450)
Rebel XSI (Can find for just over $500)
EOS 30D (Seems to run about $450-550)
EOS 20D (Can find for $350-400, but I'd prefer a larger screen)
Rebel XTI (Can usually find for $300-400, and has the minor advantage of my not having to buy new batteries.

can you plonk down a little more cash and get the d50?? it really is an amazing camera and well worth it. You have the lens etc so maybe???

okay next time i post, i will look at the prices beofre I say anything, even the used ones are way up there in price.

I would go with the XTI, you have had one, you know how it works, you are compy with it,

FWIW, I'm selling my 20D for $300. It's a small screen, but a big step up from the XT.

I would go for the 30D or even 40D before buying another X series. They are a huge step up in alot of ways. I'd personally wouldn't want the 20D simply because of the smaller screen. That is one thing that drives me nuts on my 1DsMKII is the tiny screen.

There is a 40D currently on FM from a seller with over 60 transactions for $599. Sounds like just up your alley.

Linkie.

I would also suggest going to an XXD. When I upgraded from the rebelXT to the 50D it was a drastic improvement. I didn't know what I was missing out on.
