I can agree with this statement, and I don't understand where it is coming from. I'm also thinking of smoking more and more whats up with that?

Well I finally lost a little more weight, not much mind you but after that long dry spell I'm glad to drop another 2 lbs.

Any other updates? How are y'all doing?

Hey Max,
Well I am glad you are doing fine,
About me, in few hours it will be 3 months without a single smoke :D cigarettes not smoked close to 1800 <-- fridgin scary number.

I am struggling with the weight loss though, My back Dr prohibited me from doing any kind of Cardio, the only thing I can do is walking, and not even fast walk. So my weight is still the same, diet is not working, whatever I lose in a week or two, I gain back in one meal or a nice dinner. Having a nice summer here in Montreal doesn't help much :) Dinner in a terrace is becoming a biweekly thing, went camping last weekend and going again next week, usually not the best time to pay attention to what yo are eating or drinking.
Meeting my Dr at the 28th to determine the next course of action, hopefully it is matter of few months till I can start losing weight, but not giving up the diet .. and still without a single cigarette buff :D yahhhh baby

Well I've been smoke free for over 6 months and I'm slowly taking weight off. Could be if I got off my butt and did a little more it might come off faster :-) Got the bike down and the tires aired up so that is a start.

Ameed, it's nice to hear from you. I was thinking of heading to Montreal to look for you, we have missed you in this thread.

I'm glad your doing so well on the smoking front but saddened to see that your back is still giving you problems. Hang in there I know what a bad back can do to a person as I often have to get myself off to the Dr. to get mine looked after too.

Don't worry about the weight so much, climb one mountain at a time and your on the right one for now.

I have a commercial running in Canada right now and I also filmed a french version that's on too. It's for the Government of Canada and it has to do with the renovation tax credit,I'm told it's on the internet as well as the TV. I'm the floor installer. You can't see my face but you can see that my hair is getting thin :)

All the best to you and yours.

Hey cool, I just found it on the net. I guess the rumors are true.

I'm the flooring installer in the top TV ad marked Aug. if you want to have a look see.

They said there was a French one too but I can't find it :(

Found a plus to traveling as a not-smoker - don't have to find the smoking areas, most of which require going outside of security then coming back in. So there's a plus. Minus - I REALLY don't like the not smoking thing while on vacation. Don't know why, but it really did bug me. I used to look at smokers and thing I didn't want to be like that anymore - always hanging around outside, just standing there smoking. Now I look at them with a degree of envy - or at least the ones on vacation. Sitting at an outdoor cafe with a cappucino and a smoke... Sigh. Really do miss it then, you know? But it's been over 1,000 cigarettes not smoked now, and I should feel a great sense of accomplishment. I'm sure that great sense of accomplishment is gonna show up any day now.... any day...... :-)

CONGRATULATIONS Deb for having the will power to keep going even when your eyes were so green :)

I do hope you had a great trip and we'll see photos anytime now.

All the best to you and yours.

Hey with a little surfing around the net I managed to find the French version, now I have proof that I'm silent in both official languages :)

Good going Deb, I like your attitude towards this. I just completed a month of no smoking.
The first study that comes out and says that actually its not that bad for you is the first day i start again.
Oh, and i hate born again non smokers.

I'm with you on that. I see all these internet support boards where they're all "Oh, I'm so glad I stopped! This is wonderful! I've never been happier!!" and I wonder what the heck they traded cigarettes for and if I can get me some of that... :-)

I will never, ever be a non-smoker - not possible, because I am a smoker. So I'm either a smoker in remission, or a not currently smoking smoker, or a smoker on hiatus. But not a non-smoker. I suspect I will always love the smell of a burning cigarette, too.

Oh, and huge congrats on the month! Sucks, yes, but hey, it's good for the kids and all that jazz, yes? :-)

I am with you on this. I want to smoke more now then I did when I first started this.

Mind over matter, Rosemary. Accept that it just ain't gonna be. :-) At least that's what I keep telling myself!!

I love the smell of a burning cigarette. Yes.

I'm a not currently smoking smoker. I like that one Deb. And it's the bloody truth.

I stopped smoking on Sun, 28 Jun 2009 13:35:00 GMT.
It has been 6 weeks, 3 days, 1 hours, 43 minutes and 32 seconds since I quit.
I have saved not spent $ 248.80 on cigarettes but on other stuff like cosmetics, by choosing not to smoke 1036 cigarettes.
08/12/2009 11:47:13 AM · #367
Nice with the "not spent on cigarettes", Hanneke! I, too, have spent some of that on other stuff (massages, mostly). My counter kicked in when I started the computer after my recent trip and said I had not smoked 1,000 cigarettes. Dang. When you look at it that way, that's a LOT.

I figure I'm a month away from my next cigarette. And as long as I always look at it that way - a month away - I should be good. :-)
08/13/2009 01:32:29 PM · #368
Four months, one week, four days, 23 hours, 39 minutes and 56 seconds.
2679 cigarettes not smoked, saving $803.91.
Life saved: 1 week, 2 days, 7 hours, 15 minutes.

I apologize for being MIA these past few weeks. My new job involves some very long hours and a promotion. The powers that be are sending me to school on my former days off, so that means I have not even thought about photography for a few months.

But in spite of this, I am still smoke free. I think I will use the extra week and 2 days for some much needed sleep.
08/13/2009 02:56:23 PM · #369
Nice stats, Barbara, and though it IS taking a lot of your time, I'm sure you're probably enjoying the new job, yes? Good luck getting that extra sleep! :-)

Well I'm still holding fast at 20lbs lost so I'm quite happy with that but I still need to reach my goal and I guess I'll have to take it up a notch so I can get there.

How's everyone else doing with their goals?

All the best to everyone.
