YAY!

I won a scholarship to get in free at the Photoshop Conference in Vegas this fall! As well as winning free entry to the convention, worth $599, i got a free year membership in NAPP and a subscription to Photoshop User mag. I am so freaking psyched.

today seriously cant get any better. before finding out i won the scholarship, my mom and i found a huuuuuuuge huckleberry patch and picked 2 whole pounds of them!

wow, today rocks
\

Way to go kiddo! I find it really cute that in addition to all the wonderful stuff associated with the scholarship, you are just as thrilled to find a killer huckleberry patch! So proud of my little snaffly! ((HUGS))

At this end of the world...Ryan Magnumphotography and I went to Perth Garlic Festival and had a great time shooting birds of prey from the Canadian Raptor Conservancy's show...American Kestrel, redtail hawk, immature bald eagle, young barn owl and a Harris hawk. We both got tons of shots of the birds, then shot around the festival a bit, then headed homewards.

Ryan is an absolutely amazing photog, will go off by himself for hours at a time, just him and his gear, and shoot. Hardly does any editing, and his in-camera shots are often breathtaking already. Can't wait to see how his Oil shot turns out!

lol ill send you some huckleberries snaffles:) i have no idea what to do with them. and finding a good patch is like impossible these days cause people go through with machines and destroy the bushes trying to get the berries faster.

thanks for pointing out my sheer innocence snaffles:)

That's the most fun way to do it. On those rare occasions when I can get away from the family, that's how I like to take pictures. I'm not really skilled, but the "blind squirrel" approach works for me.

Ummm....

Is there any other way?

It's therapeutic, you get to know your own world a little better, (I'm constantly finding things right here where I live that I never knew were there!),and you get to dork around as long as you want without holding anyone else up.

on my way to search out a tunnel for which I only have very sketchy directions--I have a feeling that this will probably be an epic failure. If not--it could be completely awesome!

hmm well if you get ahold of a dehydrator you could always dry them out...concentrates the flavour and as there's no moisture left they really shouldn't be able to go mouldy...or just unleash your killer photo skills and send me luscious pix of them instead! Yummy! :-0

Unfortunately our Alaskan adventure has come to a way-too-early-end. And I'm proud to say with 2 1/2 weeks of vacation I have ONLY gained 3.8 lbs.--not too too bad.
I did not get hit by the time change going out there, but oh my, I am so very tired on this return end.
Pics to process, laundry to do, unpacking, grocery shopping ... and I just wanna head back to the fabulous state of Alaska.

Sounds great, Jeanne, good for you.

We had to call the police and firemen in to stop the dpc voters over the road from hurling comments and even uglier things...

No, it's not mine, we got a man in...

Just had a cycling adventure with a friend, which involved getting lost in the countryside, falling down a hillside full of nettles, and getting a tire puncture, so eventually a friend came to rescue me and my bike with a car :) Conveniently the tire only deflated once we'd found a pub aptly named the Five Miles From Anywhere Inn, so we had a nice chilled out lunch by the riverside with a live swing band playing and all :)
The nettles I could've done without, but otherwise it was a pretty awesome day!

Lol Jelena, you manage to have so much fun anywhere you are! Glad you and bike are OK and what a conveniently located pub! :-)
08/09/2009 05:01:05 PM · #2921
I think I know that pub - I used to spread out tacks on the road for them.

Hope you also thought to pick the nettles while you were there, they are very edible. Think I cooked some up for Max Quigley when he stayed with me, and he survived! Cook them as you would spinach so no raw nettle salad, though maybe a wilted nettle salad would taste nice.

A re-edited version of this image Goes in to the Washington County Fair tomorrow, voting on Tuesday. Wish me luck..
Further studies on my Humming birds show they are quite territorial, and get very physical defending it. Gram for gram, these guys are the meanest birds I have ever seen..

Break a leg, Alan.

Here, second only to watching paint dry for entertainment value, is the - erm - animation.

So who is doing the artwork? Is it you or someone you asked to do it or just some random person?
