Outtakes

I had such a hard time choosing...if any of you get the chance to go to this location...you have to take the photographic tour...it was well worth it...totally breathtaking...

I have a boatload of them but I have been quite lazy getting around to processing any of them.

I was really impressed with the score, I didn't expect it to be anywhere near as high!! Had loads of fun with the lens (I hired it) and still have tons of shots to process!!

My entry which on hindsight I really overdid:

My three outtakes, all of which I think would have done better:

edit: all of my HDR images taken for this months FS were one original edited in Lightroom 3 times at 2 stop seperations and then run through Photomatix and tonemapped.

I was working last minute on this one..didn't really have a lot this month, but then decided to go with an entry which I had a prepped for another challenge but missed the deadline.

Didn't do well though. :(

My entry, 5.9x:

My alternate (do you think this would have done better? I was thinking "not")

I like both the shots, but for dpc ( to get some extra votes) I would have picked the first one.

I really liked the shot so entered. I thought the two below might get better votes on a free study, but still went with what I liked more

Think you made the right choice. The portrait is a great shot.

I loved everything about this shot. I still believe it is a really great shot. Most folks seemed to think it was not enough heron, but the point of the shot was not really the heron but the nature of where he was located and its precariousness. Thought it was also a very unique image.

Here are the three I took that I did not use because I felt they were just too common types of shots.

This one had a number of warming filters attached to get the reddish tones.

This one needed a lot of work. The exposure was extremely bad and I had to do a great deal of layering to get an exposure that was balanced.

Not much needed doing on this except for the cloning out of a distracting car beside the barn.

Outtake

I has seriously considered the outtake since the skyline shot had been done before, but after my abysmal score in the Username Challenge, I realize that DPC hates ducks. ;-)

Props out to all in this challenge! I think 1 - 30 is one of the best top 30 images I've ever seen in a free study. There are also some very impressive images in the middle of the pack.
