something like this would be a really cool project to undertake, especially considering how inexpensive DVRs are these days.

the comments on some of the stories are 'almost' as interesting as the stories.

i really liked the one about the bridge bicycle rider.

I'll mark this now and take a look at those later. I used to know Maggie (the singing waitress / bartender). She had a great voice. Then she blew it out. Then she recovered and could still belt like a million. Then she blew her voice out again. I haven't seen her in years, it looks like she is back singing again though. That's great.

Loved some of them, cool site, especially the Jim Romano clip titled "Tabloid Photographer" He finally switched to a digital camera after all those years:)and his last assignment was shocking, since I routinely visit that Church he spoke of.

Skip-Great post.

I've been following that series for a while and thought I might have posted the link sometime back but don't remember any discussion.

The photography is beyond amazing. Some of the best storytelling images I've ever seen and so unconventional they are a breath of fresh air. He (Todd Heisler) breaks EVERY rule one after the next but the power and poignancy of his choices is undeniable.

I just realized, it's all about the way he captures body language and how his angles and crops accentuate the delicate nuance in each individual. I also noted that many of the stories end with images like this one, where he returns them back in place, far from the NYT's spot light (or their brief, 15 minutes of fame). It's almost like he's placing them gently back on the shelf.

He has my dream job...

People aren't the only things to photograph, but this Heisler does a great job, reminds me of your style, pawdrixthe way he captures the background or foreground to add to the character of the subject. He's pretty good, maybe not the most versatile though, but maybe great photographer's shouldn't be versatile.
